Things seem to look good between the Arizona Cardinals and former Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. Jonathan Gannon’s squad met with Harrison Jr. in Tempe on Friday as part of their official top-30 visit. With the 4th overall pick in the 2024 Draft, the chances for the Cardinals to draft him have been reigning high since the beginning.

However, this would affect Jim Harbaugh’s big plan. According to rumors, the Los Angeles Chargers head coach has his guards up to draft Harrison Jr., but the move’s fate lies with the Cardinals and Minnesota Vikings.

Jim Harbaugh’s master plan to draft Harrison Jr. at stake

The man behind the PHNX Podcast, Johnny Venerable, confirmed the news of the Cardinals landing the Ohio State wide receiver. Going by the draft prospects, the first three picks would be quarterback selections. Harrison Jr., the only wide receiver in the top 10 picks, has been considered the best in this position and overall player.

After two top wide receivers, Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, left Los Angeles, Harbaugh devised a master plan to draft Harrison Jr. by promoting McCarthy. However, the Vikings and Cardinals seem unconvinced by his plan. Instead, as the rumor says, Minnesota can trade with Arizona to take the latter’s third place and draft a quarterback.

However, McCarthy seems beyond the reach of the Vikings’ budget, as the franchise’s former GM pointed out. The situation might also arise that they don’t have to overpay if the Cardinals refuse to give their pick to the Vikings. Then, Gannon’s program will surely draft Harrison Jr. If the situation arises, the Los Angeles Chargers’ HC’s mission will go unfulfilled. Harbaugh must then channel his focus into drafting another wide receiver, Malik Nabers.

Cardinals show interest in Marvin Harrison Jr.

The tweet followed a question about whether he will be “THE guy for AZ.” We must first consider the speculation that left NFL fans and analysts to call him the best prospect since Julio Jones and A.J. Green to answer this question.

Going by the records he achieved in the last two seasons, the 6-foot-3 star had gathered over 1,200 yards for the Buckeyes with two quarterbacks. With this, he is a complete package, owning playmaking skills and elite athleticism. On top of that, he carries his father’s legacy, the Hall of Fame receiver Marvin Harrison. Amidst this, Harrison Jr.’s move into the Cardinals will jumble up Harbaugh’s big mission.

Even though the wide receiver’s reaction to his next move has yet to be gathered, he instantly shifted the attention from McCarthy to himself. With this, the Chargers’ future depends on Marvin Harrison Jr.’s decision by the Cardinals, which will give rise to an interesting game plan.
