I wish them the best,” Deion Sanders said about the guys who entered the transfer portal. 17 players have joined hands and ditched Colorado to forge their paths someplace else- a massive hit for Deion Sanders and Co. to endure. As a result, Coach Prime was forced to call them out, without taking any names, in his 27 April press conference. “It may not be a part of that dog process even if you desire. You don’t fit. So now, you see them gallop to the portal,” Sanders said.

Hence, when Smith reported Sanders advising him to enter the transfer portal per the Athletic’s report, it was only natural for fans to bubble with rage. Heightening the intense rage to its fever pitch came Shedeur Sanders’ attempt at defending his father with his tweet, “Ion even remember him tbh. Bro had to be very mid at best.” It brutally backfired on the QB.

CBS Sports’ Bud Elliot was one of the first to fire the shot at Shedeur by tweeting lines dripping with sarcasm. “Can’t quite figure out why guys wouldn’t want to come and be a backup at Colorado,” Elliot said on X. The sentence came after Smith’s words which were filled to the brim with frustration and disappointment over Deion Sanders. “During spring practices, Smith felt more like an extra in the background of the reality show,” The Athletic reported.

Smith’s strongly emotion-evoking statement, “I was actually getting mad, like tears coming out of my eyes. Because bro, you never even tried to get to know me,” was enough to raise questions over all those who were accusing him of not being a good player, especially Shedeur Sanders.

Is Shedeur Sanders’ future at the NFL in danger because of the comment?

Following this, several football gurus have taken to X to say several things, all exuding some fine sarcasm, to take a direct jibe at Shedeur Sanders’ leading the team as a QB. Broncos Radio Network’s Ryan Edwards presented his take on Sheduer’s words saying, “Never seen a QB and leader of a team call one of his teammates ‘mid’ in public before. Guess there’s no such thing as ‘we all succeed or none of us succeed’ up at CU these days. Interesting look for a projected 1st round pick too.”

Another fan got the direction Edwards was trying to go to and added, “If he continues to be a selfish a**hat to both his former and current teammates, he doesn’t deserve to go in the 1st round. NFL coaches won’t tolerate his attitude if this is how he acts around others.”

It was a perfect platform for Shedeur Sanders to start presenting himself as a perfect 1st draft pick for the 2025 draft and he seems to have failed in the attempt. Surely, the following season would give him many more chances, one being his attempt at making a good on-field record but Shedeur Sanders would need to tread in this direction very carefully if he wants to fulfill his father’s wish of him pulling and ‘Eli Manning‘.

To pull an ‘Eli Manning’, he would need that many teams interested in drafting him. And for that, he would need to answer the questions being currently raised on his leadership. What do you think? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
