Is it the flares of a fierce rivalry or a brotherly bond? The frequent episodes of mockery between the Sanders brothers and Colorado Buffaloes’ two-way star Travis Hunter can make anyone wonder. If we take a look at it, in this month itself, it happened at least twice. On both occasions, that was started from Hunter’s side. Apart from Sanders Jr., he did not even spare the senior Sanders. Understandably, a reaction to the action had to come. Deion “Bucky” Sanders Jr. took up the cudgel. And he made sure that it does not remain confined among themselves.

On June 14, the Instagram handle of Coach Prime posted a clip that opens up in what seems like a departmental shop. Apparently, it was not the coach but Dein Sanders Jr. who posted this since he is the social media manager of his dad. The clip brutally trolled Travis Hunter by featuring a young boy imitating him. And it seems like Coach Prime does not have his full support in that.

In the Now-deleted post, Bucky was chasing the boy dressed just like the two-way star in a chunky silver “NOBDON” chain. As he tried to open the refrigerator, Deion Jr. threw a question from behind: “Are you Travis Hunter, bro?” Then came the most brutal part.

The young shopper, in Hunter’s exact tone, started to stutter, “I-I-I-I no Tr-a-a-a-v-i-s H-u-u-u-n-t-e-r bro.” He imitated Hunter so well that Deion Jr. could not help but capture it. His post caught the attention of comedian Gerald Huston, who reposted the video with a funny caption, “Omg I met Travis Hunter….i mean Travis Studder.”

While everyone teased Hunter for stuttering, Coach Prime entered the chat to become the cornerback/wide receiver’s ultimate protector. He reposted the video and warned Bucky in the comment section, saying, “Bucky u ain’t right man! Travis gon get you son!!!!” Travis Hunter could not have missed that.

He was quick to comment, “This how we playing say nomo.” Was Bucky’s trolling came as a compound response to all of Hunter’s previous jabs in the recent past? One came just a few days back.

The Buffs are training hard in summer practice sessions. Following a week of strenuous workouts with the Navy SEALs, the Buffs’ coaching staff has begun one-to-one drills involving the defense and the offense. During the pre-practice stretching session, Hunter was seen teasing Bucky, saying, “Your dad not love you anymore, bro?” This came after watching Coach Prime get busy with other players. With a smile, Bucky replied, “No, bro.” The episode came at the beginning of this month and had Shedeur Sanders in it.

In a video captured by Well Off Media, the players are seen taking part in running drills. When Shedeur’s turn came, the two-way phenom was seen monitoring the QB from a distance. As soon as Shedeur ended up running past the bars, the camera panned toward Hunter, who was caught passing a playful jab at his teammate. All that Hunter did was bring a reference to Drake’s lyrics and passed a mocking jab, “BBL Drizzy they said. I too got that BBL Drizzy.”

Hunter: “Y’all both went the same doctor, trade two different moves.

Deion Sanders Jr.: “You want to refer us to the doctor?

While the playful jabs indeed lighten the burden of the strenuous training schedule, the coming days are going to be intense. The momentum for the 2025 NFL draft is shaping up gradually and Sanders Sr. and Hunter are drawing a fair share of the spotlight.

Will Coach Prime dictate his son and Hunter’s NFL destination?

In March, Coach Prime created quite a ripple by saying that his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and Travis Hunter will decide the fate of the Draft. “I know where I want them to go. So, it’s certain cities that ain’t going to happen. It’s going to be an Eli,” Sanders Sr. had said in the “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast referring to what Eli Manning did in 2004.

That year Manning was the No. 1 overall pick with the San Diego Chargers. But he refused to play for them. Consequently, he was traded to the New York Giants. The rest is for the history books. He won two Super Bowls with them. Apart from repeating this, Coach Prime went further ahead about the choices of his sons’ franchise.

On the same podcast, he said he did not want them to land in a cold city. With that, he mentioned the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Commanders, and Baltimore Ravens as potential destinations. Alongside he had also predicted that the Sanders Sr. and Travis Hunter will be among the top four picks in the upcoming draft, while one of them being the No. 1 pick. Naturally, Sanders Sr.’s statement about the teams started a discussion about the limitations the two star players might have. However, Coach Prime himself dispelled that.

In April, in a conversation with Romi Bean of CBS Colorado, Deion Sanders Sr. blasted the speculation. He said that the speculation was a “bold face lie. That’s a stupid lie. I have more than six owners that are friends. I have more than six GMs that are friends.” With all this build-up in place, it remains to be seen how many teams finally show their interest in the two stars in the draft.
