The Chicago Bears and Caleb Williams are the match made in 2024 NFL draft preparations. The two have given all possible green flags hinting towards them getting together on April 25 at the Hart Plaza. It was just mere days ago that Caleb Williams passed intel to his inner circle about the QB, expecting the Bears to hire him. With the Bears vacancy in the QB room because Justin Fields traded in the free agency frenzy, the Bears trading Caleb Williams sounds more and more convincing.
Williams also got a personal key card and a locker in the Bears building to foster relations with coaches and fellow players, per the Chicago Tribune. Both Head coach Matt Eberflus and general manager Ryan Poles have given a big thumbs after having several meetings with Williams. All this is credited to the skills that Williams has forged through the years. Starting strong is Williams’ ability to adapt to playing in the LSU following his two-year stint at Oklahoma.

Yet, when it came to being in the same circle as Patrick Mahomes, Matt Miller, ESPN’s comparison guy, didn’t agree wholly. There were some qualities that Williams was picking up from Mahomes, like “His arm strength, his field vision, the way that he will drift in the pocket to extend the play. All that, he’s borrowing that from Mahomes,” Miller reported. However, the NFL star that Williams resonated the most with for Miller was a ‘young Russell Wilson’.
“I’ve said he reminds me a lot of a young Russell Wilson because I think he’s also a more accomplished runner than Mahomes or Rogers has really been in their career. I think Caleb can be a dual-threat quarterback. We certainly saw that at Oklahoma. So I see a young Russell Wilson who we have to remember had back-to-back Super Bowls, was a top-five-six NFL quarterback, certainly. So I think Caleb could be that type of player,” Miller highlighted the reason for his beliefs. This, paired with another hint by the Bears, just solidifies the possibility more.

The Bears avoid meeting Jayden Daniels
On Wednesday, during their Pro Day, LSU was a proud team since they boasted not one, not two, but three of the projected top-10 picks of the 2024 NFL draft: WR Malik Nabers, QB Jayden Daniels, and QB Caleb Williams. Jayden Daniels is also projected to be one of the top 5 prospects, so the Bear having a meeting with him only seems logical.

However, giving some more evidence about their surety of Caleb Williams, the Bears decided not to have a meeting with Jayden Daniels altogether. Ian Rapoport reported about the teams that would be having a meet with Jayden Daniels after his Pro Day performance and, of course, the Bears were not on the list. Does this make the Bears choosing Caleb Williams inevitable? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
