Football gurus have gathered their 2025 forecast even though it has only been more than a month since this year’s draft pulled the curtains. This time, analyst Chris Trapasso did the honors of producing his version of the 2025 NFL mock draft. Chris Trapasso will cause extreme irritation to the Colorado Buffaloes fans with this.

The reason is Buffs’ favorite, Shedeur Sanders, did not make it to the top of the mock draft list. Per the latest mock draft, Shedeur will be landing as the No. 5 overall pick, far behind Georgia Bulldogs QB Carson Beck. One of the best parts that Shedeur can celebrate is landing ahead of Quinn “Mullet Mahomes” Ewers.

Shedeur’s heavy sack numbers will influence his draft pick

The three names predicted to snatch the limelight from Deion Sanders’ quarterback son and the other favorite of Coach Prime, Travis Hunter, are QB Carson Beck, Edge James Pearce Jr., and DL Mason Graham. The competition also prevails within the Buffs as Hunter is believed to have an edge over Shedeur by just one rank. The Georgia Bulldogs QB has become the current favorite after his first season as the Bulldogs’ starter. His prospects rose sharply as he finished the season with a 72.4% completion rate and 3,941 passing yards. This instilled hope within the analysts that he might be en route to becoming an early Heisman Trophy candidate. While the Buffs’ lived by the belief that their favorite Shedeur would be the No.1 pick, chances seem dim.

The reason is the sheer contrast in his performance. Last season, being his debut with the Buffaloes, Shedeur failed to function up to the mark and ended up being the most sacked (56) signal caller in the country. Other than the performance of Shedeur, the Colorado Buffaloes as a program plays a major role in influencing his 2025 draft pick, giving him an edge over the predicted No. 1 pick, Beck.

Chances of a turnover seem to reign high for Shedeur Sanders

As far as the No. 1 pick is concerned, Beck holds a better chance of being at the top, whereas Coach Prime’s son does not. The reason is that Bulldogs has a far more established program than Buffaloes. Georgia has waved the winner’s flag in two of the last three national championships, leaving Deion Sanders’ Colorado far behind in the race. However, relying on the mock draft, Shedeur does have a solid reason to celebrate, that is, gaining a spot above the Texas Longhorns’ starting QB.

Fresh off a Big 12 title and a College Football Playoff appearance, Ewers is expected to make waves. But according to Trapasso, Shedeur will plunder such plans, and Ewers, who was neck-and-neck with Sanders, has seen his odds drop to a distant +1400. Not to forget the Buffs QB’s impressive stats that got overshadowed by the Buffaloes’ lackluster 4-8 record and Shedeur’s heavy sack numbers.

He completed 69.3% of his throws for 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns against just three interceptions. Hence, now that Shedeur has beaten Ewers in the mock 2025 draft, there are enough chances to replace Beck and claim the position of No. 1 overall pick. To gain motivation, Shedeur can look at the past when QBs like John Elway and Steve Bartkowski have overcome collegiate struggles to be drafted first overall.
