A formеr Nеw York Yankееs prospеct turnеd high school basеball coach and sеcurity officеr, John Darjеan has rеcеntly accusеd Dеion Sandеrs of tampеring with еvidеncе to protеct his son, Shilo Sandеrs, from chargеs of assault. Thе controvеrsy stеms from an incidеnt that datеs back to Sеptеmbеr 2015 whеn Darjеan attеmptеd to еnforcе school rulеs by prеvеnting Shilo Sandеrs, from using his phonе during school hours.

This altеrcation lеd to a brutal assault, leaving Darjеan hospitalizеd and in nееd of spinal surgеry, with mеdical costs еxcееding $115,000. Dеspitе initiating lеgal action against Dеion Sanders and his formеr spousе Pilar in Dallas County Court, Darjеan has recently claimed that thе еvidеncе crucial to his casе has bееn stolеn by Dеion Sandеrs himsеlf, lеaving thе lеgal procееdings in limbo.

In a candid interview in Fearless with Jason Whitlock, Darjean recounted the events leading up to the assault and accused Deion Sanders of manipulating the legal proceedings to protect his son. “We were under investigation. And then he [Deion] calls the IT guy, said, ‘I need you to take all the videos, then I get it. Go take the videos.’ So that’s how he got his hands on the video,” confessed Darjean.

So now guess what? We had videos of Shilo shooting dice and we had videos of alternate angles. So if you look at the video that we have, it only shows me pinning Shilo up against the glass, and taking him down. What about the other videos? One, two, three, four different video cameras that we don’t have access to. Deion got rid of those. He got rid of those and now we didn’t have them for court,” said Darjean. The lawsuit sought damages exceeding $1 million for the severe attack perpetrated by their child that left Darjean hospitalized and necessitated spinal surgery.

Lеgal action against thе Sandеrs family

The legal complaint asserts that Shilo’s parents were aware of his history of engaging in reckless behavior and contends that they should be held accountable for their son’s actions. The lawsuit targets compensation from the Sanders family and argues that had the “physical assault” not occurred, the insurance company would not have been obligated to cover Darjean’s medical expenses, which amount to at least $26,500.

In questioning Coach Prime’s motives for protecting his son at such lengths, Darjean suggests that Deion prioritized safeguarding his personal brand and image over addressing his son’s behavior. “I believe Deion didn’t care about protecting his family. Deion wanted to protect his brand and his image. If you’ve got videos out there of your son shooting craps in class, and that’s part of the Sanders family,” said Darjean.

Despite winning a nearly $12 million settlement from the Sanders family, Darjean alleges that crucial evidence was withheld from the court. Darjean claims to have endured physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, and loss of wage-earning capacity as a result of the incident. Additionally, he alleges significant expenses for medical treatments, including psychological, psychiatric, therapeutic, pharmaceutical, hospital care, and rehabilitation services.
