The Florida State University was far from getting into the college football playoffs this season. Leading the Atlantic Coast Conference with their 13-0 record, Florida had quite an eventful season. However, the CFP committee seems to have completely overlooked the team’s efforts throughout the season, as they were not selected for the playoffs. Alford could not hide his disappointment in the committee as he gave the message.
Not only was this a historic turn-on event, but since the CFP model came out nine years ago, this came as a shock for the Seminoles. As two teams with one loss: Texas and Alabama were selected in the top 4. After this, the authorities could barely contain their rage.

Michael Alford condemns CFP
“Our players, coaches, and fans – as well as all those who love this sport – deserve better. The committee failed college football today,” exasperated Michael Alford. “To eliminate them from a chance to compete for a national championship is an unwarranted injustice that shows complete disregard and disrespect for their performance and accomplishments. It is unforgivable,” asserted the AD. Michigan and Washington, the other two teams, without a single loss in college football, were selected for the playoffs.

With Florida out of the line, who will bag the next playoff championship, ultimately leading them to the National title? Michigan is coming in hot right now, with its unstoppable prowess, and so is Washington. Safe to say, there will be a tough competition.
Changes in the CFP next year
The tough decision that the committee had to make this year won’t be a problem from the next season, as the CFP structure will undergo a major change. Instead of the top 4 teams, there will be the top 12 teams. The main reason behind this is Pac-12’s de facto collapse. Due to this, UCLA, USC, Oregon, and Washington will leave the league to join the Big Ten next season while California and Stanford will join the ACC.
Moreover, Utah, Arizona, Arizona State, and Colorado will join the Big 12. These changes will not only bring in huge viewership but also great revenue for the CFP. There will also be a new executive director, a new channel, and broadcasting contracts rolling out. The 5+7 format change is likely to bring about a revolution in college football, with the endless number of prospects it has. Will college football completely change with the new format? Only time will tell.
