Deion Sanders knows the essence of education all too well. Even though it took him about 42 years to graduate, Deion Sanders didn’t leave the hope. This is probably why Sanders’ smile was the brightest in the 2020 convocation of Talladega College and his graduation speech was one of the most soul-stirring ones. The triumph over life was crystal clear in Prime’s eyes.

Hence, when he came to know about the little cheating that the Buffs players were doing in their courses, Sanders was simply outraged. The alarms blared off at CU and the team was assembled to face Sanders’s wrath. However, he taught them a lesson in his Prime way. Sanders opened the extensive email he received about the ‘disrespectful behavior’ that the Buffs maintained in their class and read out each complaint that the CU professor had expressed in the mail in front of everyone, which only heightened his anger.

Later, gaining his composure, Deion Sanders addressed his coaching staff on why it’s crucial to encourage the kids to study more. “It’s clear that I’m angry because we in this new collective in NIL state of mind, we got youngsters that’s all in on one side of the game. 90% or 95 % of your roster ain’t going pro. So, coaches, we gotta emphasize education, we gotta emphasize life, we gotta emphasize the next step, the next elevation if it doesn’t work in the game,” Sanders stated from his experience since he has witnessed the best and the worst of the NFL.

Deion Sanders wanted the coaches to make their players realize the value of education since it’s the key to forging a tough mindset, which is the base for any successful player to fall back on if things go left. “Today was not wonderful But I’ll be damned if I allow these kids to get out of here without something. This life you are getting ready to live, you gotta win with your mind, not your athleticism” Deion Sanders said to the coaches.

Sanders’ principles of making education the student’s priority have impressed CU to a great extent. So much so that CU launched a course inspired by Deion Sanders.

The initial proposition was made a year ago, and since then the course inspired by Coach Prime has been blowing up at Colorado. Currently, the campus has 12 faculties from 5 different departments who teach the course. However, that’s not what the course is famous for. It’s the guest speakers who steal the spotlight there.

CU has invited over a dozen titans of the sports media industry like Miami Dolphins president and CEO Tom Garfinkel and Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt, who are both CU alums. While they might be some of the best in the industry, no one can be as good as Prime in teaching this course.
