Home is where the heart is! Omarion Cooper is one proud fellow to follow his calling back home. Deserting the already vacated locker room at Colorado, Cooper announced his decision to enter the transfer portal. Hailing from Florida State University, the CB took to his X on Monday, 29 April to announce his decision to go back home to FSU.

It was just one year ago that Cooper joined Sanders and Co. with high aspirations. Seems that the expectations didn’t align much with what he had in mind, since only 1 year proved to be enough for Cooper to realize that he was best fitted for his old university. “All faith and glory to the man above #GoNoles,” Cooper tweeted, announcing his decision.

Omarion Cooper’s words elicited a series of reactions from the Buffs staff, especially Deion Sanders Jr. The ‘social media guy‘ of Deion Sanders took to his X to drop an authoritative, yet supportive comment on Cooper’s move. “Go be great,” Sanders Jr. tweeted, which left fans baffled. Was Sanders Jr. trying to be satirical towards Cooper, or was he genuinely hoping for the CB to be great? That only Sanders Jr. can answer.

What the fans do know is that Cooper would surely be great at FSU again after learning a good thing or two from his one year at CU. In 2023, at CU, Cooper amassed 37 tackles, made up of 32 solo, 5 assisted, and 1 sack. During his previous 2 years at FSU, the CB recorded 16 and 14 tackles in 2021 and 2022, respectively. While his numbers at CU show a significant development at CU, Omarion Cooper is expected to display similar progress at Seminoles as well.

It was a bittersweet moment for Sanders as well. Sweet because his alma matter would be getting a player trained by him. And on the other, he is losing not one but two important players on his roster at Colorado.

Omarion Cooper is not the only one to leave CU

The CU locker room will not vacate only one but two of its places since Cooper is not the only one to enter the transfer portal. He is accompanied by WR Kendal Stewart. Stewart leaves CU with an identical experience to Cooper from CU. After playing for just one year with Deion Sanders, Stewart also took to his X on Monday to issue a heartfelt note to make the announcement.

Spending his freshman year at CU, Stewart has 4 years of eligibility left. The Richmond, TX native, did not see any action in his freshman year. Hence, he would be a perfect surprise player for any university he enters.
