Lavish vacations? Not anymore, as Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders has a new passion — fishing! Coach Prime is seen in his latest reel, having a gala time with his friends and catching fish. The Buffs HC’s vacation schedule has been thrown off because of his newfound passion as he seeks refuge in his new sanctuary. Why wouldn’t he prefer fishing when it’s cheap and enjoyable at the same time?

However, the new interest may challenge Deion in the coming weeks. His son, Deion Sanders Jr., will be away on vacation to Greece, potentially disrupting Coach Prime’s newfound hobby. The question is: why?

Deion fans know how their favorite head coach is spotted frequently with fishing rods by the lakeside. But little did they expect Coach Prime to shoot off a big claim. It is confirmed that if given a chance, he would go angling instead of enjoying his leisure time by the serene beaches or amidst picturesque mountains. “I am not a vacation guy. I don’t like going anywhere. This is my vacation,” a confident Deion claimed. But why so? He elaborated: “I don’t believe in investing a bunch of money in some places, I go make my house a vacation.”

While the Buffs HC was spotted having a great time, he raised his concern that might cause a roadblock in his fishing spree. His firstborn, Bucky, will be away in Greece on a vacation. He is responsible for preparing the dough that is used as fish bait. While Deion was busy fixing the dough at the edge of his rod, he revealed, “Next Sunday he is in Greece. He do that dough.” Hence, it’s hard for Coach Prime to think about anything besides fishing as his recreation. Did he pick up this interest after seeing Travis Hunter?

Deion Sanders’ childhood fishing experiences

No, that’s undoubtedly not the case. All this started quite early for Deion when he went fishing with his stepdad as a child. He shared this heartwarming story while conversing with Joel Klatt, “I was on the bank fishing with my stepfather one time in Fort Myers, Florida… And we can’t pull a fish… A boat came by, and it was a couple gentlemen in this beautiful boat.” His initial interest did not lay in fishing but in something else.

He then revealed, “You know what the little young prime thought? ‘I want the lake. Forget the boat, I want the lake, cause if I’ve got the lake I can do whatever the heck I wanna do. And I’ve never owned a home since then.” Lake Prime and Lake Time are two water bodies that the Buffs HC now owns. Posing beside one of the lakes during a fishing session, Deion posted a photo and teased Hunter, “Really thinks he [Hunter] can beat me fishing. I’m trying to be a good host, but tomorrow, it’s on!”

But his love for Hunter overpowers the lighthearted rivalry that the two share. With this, the Buffs two-way star got lucky to get the opportunity to go fishing in Lake Prime. And what a stroke of luck! The first gain came with Hunter catching a fish whose weight surpassed 10 pounds!
