As the date changed to August 9, the Sanders family had two reasons to celebrate. While Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders turned 57, ex-wife Carolyn Chambers chose to ignore the moment as she had better reasons to celebrate. After all, she is now officially in the Grandma Club. Their daughter, Deiondra, gave birth to a baby boy the same day.

Even though Carolyn is now excited about leveling up from mom to grandmamma, this was not the case when Deiondra confirmed her pregnancy. She was losing sleep over her daughter’s difficult pregnancy.

It was no less than a top-of-the-world moment for mother Carolyn. Her oldest child, Deiondra, gave birth to a healthy baby boy in Atlanta on August 9. The Sanders’ first grandchild weighs 6 lbs, 13 ounces, and is 18 inches long. Baby Que’s father, Jacquees, was the first to share the nursery picture. In the picture, Jacquees is spotted in the hospital robe, all smiles as the baby lies beside him, his face hidden behind a “face with heart eyes” emoji. This was enough for Grandma Carolyn to be utterly obsessed with her grandson’s arrival. She re-shared the post with the caption, “God I thank you!!”

Carolyn added the song Look at God by Koryn Hawthorne on an IG story to voice her heartfelt thanks to the universe. Deiondra acknowledged divine grace on her profile like her mother: “WE MADE IT YALL. Through every challenge, by the grace of God, WE MADE IT.” I can’t do anything but praise Him.“ Finally, Carolyn could let out a sigh of relief.  

Carolyn had doubts about her daughter’s challenging pregnancy ordeal

Carolyn has been beside Deiondra through the thick and thin of her pregnancy journey. To make her daughter’s journey to motherhood extra special, Deion’s ex-wife threw a gala bash for her baby shower. But deep down, the concerned mother was on pins and needles since Deiondra, from the beginning, had a difficult pregnancy and a high risk of miscarriage.

Right after the gender reveal on May 17, Coac Jessee planned a virtual interview with Deion’s daughter. And what an emotional journey it has been! Deiondra shared how she went ahead and gladly proceeded to become a mother, despite having undergone multiple surgeries and carrying four fibroids within her. It was during the interview that she revealed how her mother had doubts about the health threats during the nine-month journey. 

“I told my mom the stuff I want..I don’t know if she is with it…I am on my research of the birth plan..but I think this is what my mom won’t be expecting, might be a little upset,” revealed Deiondra. But Carolyn’s worries are finally behind her. She can now enjoy her own sweet time with the bundle of joy.
