The Colorado Buffaloes’ Deion Sanders is all praise for his quarterback son, Shedeur Sanders. However, the former NFL wide receiver, Keyshawn Johnson, has stepped in to give a reality check to Coach Prime. 

The quarterback extraordinaire and the heir to Sanders’ legacy, Shedeur’s potential in the NFL has sparked a debate. On the opposite side is the much-talked quarterback sensation and NFL Draft’s No. 1 prospect, Caleb Williams. Besides the Shedeur vs. Williams tussle, now it is to be seen whose analysis is more accurate: Deion Sanders’ or Johnson’s.

Johnson’s touch of reality in Shedeur’s evaluation

Amidst the fanfare surrounding Shedeur’s prospects, Johnson offered a sobering reality check. With these massive expectations from Shedeur, it is a fact that he will be compared to his father more than anybody else. At that point in time, Johnson took charge of digging deep into the ongoing comparison. Johnson noted, “I was like, and he took off, I was like, oh okay, he can move some. He is not his dad, no but what happens is people look at his father’s speed and they think that DNA going to immediately transfer.”

He disavows the fans’ presumptions, stating that in sports, heredity often fails to come to play, “It’s like no, it’s not going to transfer; you know he’s still fast but he ain’t his daddy. Deion Sanders’ strong faith in son Shedeur

Deion Sanders seemed to support Shedeur’s decision to continue in college football, taking enough time before stepping into the NFL. Coach Prime is also highly confident about his quarterback son’s prospects. However, fathers, being fathers, often view their children critically, leaving room for their improvement. The Buffs HC is no exception, as he confidently claimed, “He wouldn’t have been the first quarterback off the board.”

At the same time, he had been confident enough to develop the analysis further, “I think he had the ability, but he probably would have been the second quarterback off the board.” Justifying the accuracy of his prediction, Coach Prime cited his 14-year-long experience and his ability to base his assumptions not on rumors but facts. 

Even though there is a lot of time until Shedeur breaks ties with college football and makes his debut in the NFL, Deion Sanders’ confidence will fuel his motivation. Now that his and his father’s athletic capabilities have been scrutinized, let’s see whether he will work on breaking his father’s record to make Coach Prime proud of his son.
