Julius Erving’s influence continues to resonate in the pro-sports world, especially with former MLB and NFL star turned coach, Deion Sanders. In his latest Instagram post, Coach Prime paid homage to his childhood hero, NBA legend Erving. Affectionately known as Dr. J, Sanders expressed his admiration for his childhood idol.

Noting Erving’s resilience in the face of adversity, Sanders highlighted the enduring impact of Erving who is in attendance at the NBA All-Star Weekend. Through his tribute, he expounded his admiration for Erving’s exemplary qualities in different roles.

Sanders took to his Instagram account to post passionately about Erving, reminiscing the NBA legend’s impact on his life not just as a basketball icon but as a hero. He shared a sentimental note stating, “He was Professional, Classy, Well Dressed, Spoke Well, A Straight Baller, A Game Changer that also faced Adversity and Overcame it. It was Erving’s professionalism, eloquence, impeccable style as well as on-court prowess that deeply touched Sanders and he acquired the place of a role model for Sanders. Underscoring Erving’s journey, Coach Prime concluded his tribute with an interesting fact.

Without holding a doctorate degree, the legend earned the moniker “The Doctor” because of the surgical precision that he showcased on the basketball court. Erving found himself in the spotlight once again at the NBA All-Star Weekend that is taking place in Indianapolis. Meanwhile, in a dream come true moment for Coach Prime, Erving attended a Buffaloes’ match in Boulder this past season.
