As the NFL draft day drama continues to sizzle, analysts continue to make wild guesses, never knowing when one will turn true. Dan Patrick experienced something similar in his show when he asked Drake Maye about his preference. Maye, a QB expected to be drafted in the top-5 picks is the name most discussed with 2 teams: the Commanders and the Patriots. Both teams are looking forward to drafting a QB.

However, while speaking about his preference for the weather, Drake Maye might have dropped the ultimate hint for the NFL world to decode, with hours left for the 2024 NFL draft. “I have an idea,” Maye confessed in Patrick’s show when asked if he has an “idea” of what will be on the other side of the phone when it rings on the draft day. That’s when Patrick took his cue to pop the question, “And do you like the cold?” potentially asking about his preference for the Patriots.

Maye replied, “I don’t mind it at all. I mean, you gotta play football. Football is a cold-weather sport nowadays.” Well, it says all about Maye’s outlook on playing in a chilly state. Foxborough is a chilly place as well, as compared to the temperate Washington breezes. Just saying!

Maye would be one of the 3 QBs who agreed to attend the NFL draft, accompanied by Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniels. Receivers like Marvin Harrison Jr, Malik Nabers, and Rome Dounze would be joining them too. As Maye gears up to join one of the top seeds in the NFL, he is preparing himself to be the best by working out with the best.

Drake Maye secures a workout session with Philip Rivers

To become his best version ahead of the draft day, JJ McCarthy is taking NFL lessons from North Carolina alum Philip Rivers. The legendary NFL QB taught Maye a thing or two during his lessons with Rivers. Maye first revealed the news of his training with Rivers back in February.

That’s how he, Bo Nix, and Carter Bradley ended up as a part of the throw-off competition against one of the finest QBs in the league. One that Philip Rivers easily won against the QB. “Philip can still throw it,” Maye said with a pout while recounting the event to ESPN’s Kevin Clark.
