The era of the ‘modern-day Michigan Man’ Jim Harbaugh has concluded at UM. The aftermaths were expected to be disastrous for the varsity program but it didn’t turn out to be, thanks to Michigan’s wise choice in selecting their next head coach. Sherrone Moore effectively controlled the program’s reins, given his six years of experience as the offensive coordinator. Luckily Moore also got some prior experience as the ‘acting’ head coach at Michigan when Jim Harbaugh was suspended under the sign-stealing debacle.

This enabled him to devise a master plan for the future of Michigan. The biggest question that lies ahead of Moore currently is that of recruitment. Even though willing, recruits and their families have their reservations about entering a program whose head coach was just replaced. Moore had the perfect explanation for them. “I think all those questions will get answered. If it’s not broke, don’t fix it,” said Moore. He assured the kids and their families that “There’s not going to be a wholesale change of the culture and the Brotherhood that we have because it’s really good. Bringing the right people to coach our student-athletes, be a part of our student athletes life and really be their families is the number one goal right now.”

The clarification of no major changes in the program was vital, as his, “I’m going to be me. I’m not Jim Harbaugh” statement left that impression. Moore clarified on that part as well, what will change and what won’t. “There’s a lot of things that we do phenomenal here and I want to continue that path and there’ll be things that I do a little bit in my way,” explained Michigan’s head coach.

Still feeling the need to instill the kids and their families’ trust in him, he reminded them of his qualifications and extensive chemistry with UM. “I’ve been here for six years understand what it’s taking to get there and I’m not going to mess that up.” Although everyone is aware of the experience Moore has, it’s the unaddressed issues that Moore needs to solve.

What next does Moore need to address?
UM has a ton of fans, but they also gained a significant amount of criticism last season following the sign-stealing farce. While Jim Harbaugh already served a suspension for it, the punishments are yet to be finalized. Moore already has a very positive attitude towards Michigan, per his words last season as the OC. Hence, he is expected to handle it well.

Moreover, he also needs to replace the eroding staff at Michigan with equally passionate individuals to maintain stability. While Moore has already announced the replacement of the strength and conditioning coach, DC and safeties coach replacements are yet to be announced.
