When giving reality checks, no one does it better than the Colorado Buffaloes’ head coach. With little time left for Colorado Spring Football, Deion Sanders took a session for Buffs players. Sanders shared his frustration, which left the fans wondering what the reason behind his disappointment was.

During this time, Coach Prime expressed frustration after discovering the Colorado players’ relationship with NIL. For the coach, the players are only running after money and not seeking opportunities to improve themselves. Sanders also broke the wall earlier with his claim about how NIL works in college football.

Deion Sanders’ humbling session ahead of the Spring game

It is time for some Deion Sanders pep talk ahead of the Spring game. However, he chose to expose the harsh reality instead of motivating the players. Delving deep into his player roster and its workings left Coach Prime thoroughly dissatisfied, as he went on to share, “I’m a little frustrated, I’m a little angry right now because we in this new collective in NIL state of mind we got youngsters that’s all in on one side of the game.”

According to the head coach, the majority of the players are driven by NIL and not the game: “90% or 95% of your roster ain’t going pro. So coaches we got to emphasize education, we got to emphasize life, we got to emphasize the next step, the next elevation.” For the coach, this generation only runs after instant gratification. Previously, he also addressed the issue of the disbalance in the players’ roster caused by NIL.

Coach Prime delves deeper into NIL

Earlier in an interview, Sanders highlighted the importance of understanding the path to success and reaching the end of the road, stating that only hard work and patience can help. To further establish his point, Coach Prime said, “You know Magic had to be Magic several years down the street before he got whatever he had now. You guys want it right now and you can’t really handle that light and handle the adversity and handle the trials and tribulations and you’re not really ready for that because you just came out the womb.” He deliberately drew parallels with legends like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan to inspire student-athletes.

Previously, Sanders also chose to open the players’ eyes by claiming that, in the name of NIL, they are receiving collectives. The coach chooses to discipline his own kids, as he declared, “I’m tenacious on the kids, but I want them to be smart and have discipline and character. If you don’t have that, you aren’t playing for us. I demand that.”

Hence, all Sanders wants from the players is for them to keep the Colorado Buffaloes football program as the priority, and the other things will gradually fall into place. Not being allured by the charm of NIL, they must focus on improving their play and working on themselves as human beings to achieve greatness.
