Sherrone Moore has endured repeated hits in the post-Jim Harbaugh era. Hence, the news of Michigan getting back an experienced QB on their roster is something Moore will celebrate. On Sunday, Tuttle announced news that brought back the diminishing hope in Michigan’s roster for the 2024 season. The star players of Michigan, like JJ McCarthy, Blake Corum, Zak Zinter, and more, are joining the 2024 NFL draft, leaving Moore with much less talent compared to Harbaugh, making the sky-high expectations even more un-doable for him.

Almost as a beacon of hope, the lauded QB Jack Tuttle got his seventh collegiate year approved. This would be a pivotal move for Moore, not only because he would get a well-forged QB in the dressing room, but also because of the three much-needed qualities that Tuttle brings to Michigan’s table: experience, grit, and maturity. Moore already has Jadyn Davis, Alex Orji, and Jayden Denegal in the QB department, giving it the versatile edge it needs.

Tuttle announced on Sunday afternoon through a video stating, “So many memories and great people. The journey continues.” Even though Tuttle only played for 6 games for the past season at UM, his 15-of-17 completed pass attempts for 130 yards and a touchdown were enough to prove himself as a promising QB to lead a reputed program like Michigan. Even when playing for Indiana, Tuttle promised a Big 10 QB caliber. Per SI, “It feels like it could be a battle between Tuttle and Alex Orji for U-M’s starting QB spot.” Well, Orji does possess a powerful record. So, in the end, it will all boil down to the better gridiron excellence among the two.

Alex Orji boasted some impressive stats in his sophomore year. 123 yards with 3 touchdowns, averaging to 5.9 with 21 attempts in the 9 games he played. Just a bit of touching up in his passing game and Orji is steady to set records. Another potential pick for Moore would be Jayden Denegal. Denegal, among the 7 games he played, completed 4 out of the 5 attempts, along with scoring the first touchdown.

Moore also has Jaydn Davis in the QB department, but he is expected to give some time to Davis to polish himself as a freshman. Jaydn Davis comes in with a blockbuster 2022 season as he was honored by North Carolina’s biggest high school football honor, being named Mr. Football in the state during his term at Providence Day School. Hence, the diversity in the QB department is as versatile as it can get a Michigan. Truly, a sigh of relief for Moore. What do you think?
