The 2024 NFL Draft will give a platform for a whole new set of stars to spread their wings. Among them is Joe Alt, the Notre Dame left tackle who is all set to take off. Carrying the legacy of his father and brother, it is surprising that Alt maintains a carefree attitude. On April 19, he appeared on the YouTube podcast Green Light with Chris Long, as he reverberated with motivation.

During this conversation, he shared how he has been taking charge of the negative feelings and nervousness that were natural to dominate his mental state ahead of an important day. As he is expected to make his way to the Tennessee Titans, he is NFL-ready with his unique playing style.

For every college football athlete, stepping into the NFL is like a dream come true. In these times of transition, Alt stands as an ideal example of maintaining positivity in crucial times. As the Notre Dame left tackle continues to be confident of whatever he has put in all these years as an athlete, he confessed, “I’m an anxious person by nature but like the things like this I’m really good about like it’s completely out of my control at this point. Like I’ve done all I can do. I played my three years at Notre Dame playing the best my ability wouldn’t put my best foot forward the combine.”

He further revealed how he feels content with the efforts that he has put up, “I can’t really do anything more so for me it’s just kind of sitting and waiting and waiting for next Thursday.” The 2023 Unanimous All-America registered the highest overall PFF grade (90.7) last season as an FBS offensive lineman.

Athletic excellence runs in his blood as his dad, John Alt was the offensive tackle and had been in the Kansas City Hall of Fame. On the other hand, Mark, his brother, was a draft pick of the NHL Carolina Hurricanes. Other than looking up to his family members, there are two important names Alt draws inspiration from.

Alt’s source of inspiration

Now that Alt has worked to come off as a calm and collected personality on the field, two individuals have helped him mold himself. As the player confessed, “For me, when I look at the way I play and the way I think, I always go to two guys: Joe Thomas and the way he sets…On the mental side of things, a guy who I really look to is Lane Johnson and his approach to the snap count

While Alt takes pride in his calmness, the NFL mock draft comes up with predictions that will definitely lead to the player losing his cool. Per speculations, the Tennessee Titans are projected to select the highest-rated Notre Dame tackle at No. 7 overall. The reasons behind pursuing Alt as elaborated by AllTitans, “The Titans need a tackle, and Joe Alt is the best one available. They expect Alt to be a Day 1 starter and provide the necessary blindside protection for second-year quarterback Will Levis.”

Ran Carthon, the Tennessee general manager, and first-year coach Brian Callahan live by believing football games are won in the trenches. In that case, drafting Alt as a protection for their quarterback seems to be a perfect alignment and evolves as the Titans’ most pressing need.
