Herbert is credited with creating one of the toughest teams in college football. His training ‘played a huge role in the Wolverines culture and ability to develop players,‘ per Feldman.

Since Herbert has taken over Michigan, the overall athleticism of players has developed substantially. Be it some of them putting some weight, and others shedding some, Herbert has successfully transferred the teenage boys to robust athletes with the caliber to outperform major NFL stars.
ON3’s Anthony Broom believes that “They started to have the physicality, the athleticism that you need to compete with a lot of those top-flight schools. And Ben Herbert is directly responsible for that. He and Abigail O’Connor, who does the nutrition program, have been huge in that regard. And they’re kind of a package deal here.”
Moreover, Michigan pays Ben Herbert a massive $1.6 million. Hence, the Chargers would also need to consider the substantial buyout that would come with the deal. While landing Herbert would be a tough shot for Harbaugh, other coaches from Michigan are highly rumored to be shifting with Harbaugh.
Coaches who might shift with Harbaugh
Per several reports, Michigan’s DC Jesse Minter, and Jim Harbaugh’s son Jay Harbaugh are the only two coaches who might shift to the Chargers with Jim Harbaugh. However, Harbaugh is looking forward to ‘juice up’ in several positions.

Hence, he is also said to have his eyes set on the Ravens’ former offensive coordinator, Greg Roman, who might be offered a position. Aaron Wilson believes that Romans would be made the offensive coordinator, Jesse Minter the defensive coordinator, and Jay Harbaugh the ST. Harbaugh wanted to take Sherrone Moore with him as well, but he is poised to become the head coach at Michigan. This makes Harbaugh’s strategy towards the Super Bowl all the more interesting.
