Amidst the widespread JJ McCarthy fever that has gripped the top 10 teams, the Patriots stand out. Their de facto general manager, Eliot Wolf, has an undeniable ‘love’ for McCarthy, a fact that has been widely reported. While the negative connotations surrounding McCarthy may be prevalent among analysts, the Patriots remain steadfast in pursuing the talented QB.

All the Patriots know is this: they have the upper hand over most teams with their No.3 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, along with one of the best QBs of Michigan being available. They knew what happened when they drafted a Michigan QB once, back in the 2000 draft. Then they might have thought of it as a subliminal sixth-round 199th pick. Little did they know that the pick, Tom Brady, would etch their team as one of the greatest franchises ever in the books of the NFL and would carve his place out as the GOAT of the NFL.

The Patriots are not taking the opportunity to add another Michigan QB to their roster lightly. Under the new leadership of Jerod Mayo, they are committed to securing only the best players. The 30 visits they have planned will play a crucial role in this selection process. Despite Mayo’s comments about having their picks in the NFL Combine, the Patriots are eager to have the best 30 players visit Foxborough.

JJ McCarthy will also visit the Patriots during these 30 visits, despite the franchise already meeting him during the NFL Combine week and at Michigan’s pro day. Despite their de facto manager’s seeming preference for the quarterback, Jerod Mayo is keeping his option platter wide open.

JJ McCarthy’s competition with the Patriots

JJ McCarthy would not be the only one taking a trip down to Foxborough. He would also be accompanied by some of his most fierce competitors in the NFL 2024 draft, who are fighting hard to claim their top position on the QB board that JJ McCarthy has swiftly overtaken.

The Patriots will also meet other top QB prospects like Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels. To make matters a bit concerning for McCarthy, the Patriots would be meeting Maye and Daniels for the third time, the first being the NFL combine and the second being their pro days. And that’s just the three of them, with 27 more joining the lineup. Amidst the competition, do you think JJ McCarthy would be able to impress the Patriots as much as his draft stocks impressed everyone? Drop your predictions in the comments.
