Amidst the backlash, former NFL quarterback, Robert Griffin III voiced his support for Williams. In his plea to accept him for who he is, Griffin III posted a tweet where he wrote, “Let Caleb Williams be Caleb Williams. Ain’t nothing wrong with him wearing pink fingernail polish and having a pink phone case. Quite frankly, if he goes to Chicago then Bears fans should be rocking whatever he is. Stop the hate and accept him for who he is.”

Truth behind Williams’ fondness for nail paint

Those who have followed the quarterback for quite a long time now know that Williams has been using his nails as a form of expression for years. When he won the Heisman trophy during his 2022-2023 college football season, he was spotted wearing nail paint. Defeating C.J.Stroud and leading USC to a huge win over Notre Dame, during the contest attention was drawn to his freshly painted nails. It flaunted the message, “F—NDXX”.

Similarly, before the 2022 Pac-12 Championship game, he chose to paint the words “F**k Utah” and garnered heavy revulsion from social media. When he went to a contest against Washington State, he painted the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline on his nails. Williams even shared how he had developed a fondness for painting his fingers and said, “My mom was my inspiration. I mean, she’s been doing nails since I could remember.”
