Gavin Kuld’s recent controversial remarks, particularly his criticism of the Colorado Buffaloes, have sparked a wave of concern among college football fans. His verbal jabs at Shedeur Sanders have only intensified the situation, with Shedeur and Justin Mayers stepping in to defend the Boulder program.

Kuld’s comments on the Locked On Buffs podcast, which put him under Kevin Borba’s scrutiny, were particularly personal. He chose to target Shedeur’s NIL valuation and lavish lifestyle, a move that Borba criticized as insensitive and unnecessary.

Borba defends Shedeur with ‘his money, his choice‘ stance
As Kuld appeared on the MagDog TV interview, which is now deleted, he created a storm over the college football spectrum. When asked how NIL changed college football, he passed a brutal jab on Shedeur and committed, “Look at Arizona, look at Fifita, he did with all his money…look at Colorado this guy has got six cars and an apartment.” Borba then took up this statement by the ex-backup QB. In Borba’s analysis, “So it’s a little weird, he’s like pocket watching. He’s like Shedeur Sanders isn’t giving back and he’s like like not giving, treating his walk-ons.”

However, Borba held Kuld at fault and advised him to stay out of Shedeur’s possessions. “Maybe Gavin feels that hey if Shedeur really wanted to probably could have paid for blank for the walk-ons and that’s probably true. But again it’s Shedeur’s money, it’s his brand, it’s his name, we don’t have any right to tell Shedeur how to spend his money.“ While diving deep into Kuld’s attack on Shedeur, we may get some idea of the source of this loathing.

The backstory of Shedeur giving Kuld a cold shoulder
While Kuld attacking Shedeur has now become the talk of the town, hardly anyone is talking about what propelled the backup QB to land an attack on Deion Sanders’ son. When, on May 2, Kuld announced hitting the portal, all he shared was gratitude for his experience in Colorado. His tweet read, “The people I meet and friends I made thank you for showing me the different perspective of life. I will forever hold you near to my heart thank you Boulder!“

But it has been a long time since Shedeur and Kuld is finding it difficult to gel with each other. In the same interview, the backup QB confessed how Shedeur gave him a cold shoulder. “I don’t if it was the backlog we had last year cause we had something individual going on. I called him out and he got really defensive in that conversation. From that instance, he would talk to me occasionally,” came up Kuld’s claim.

The fallout from Kuld’s comments could have serious implications. His criticism of the Colorado Buffaloes and Shedeur has put him in a precarious position. With Shedeur and Justin Mayers rallying to protect the honor of the Buffaloes, Kuld finds himself in a “burning the bridge” scenario, unable to return to Boulder or move forward.
