“Like if I would have seen how Malik Nabers Pro Day was, I would have called my agent,” James Jones said, adding a dash of fuel to the raging fire between Malik Nabers and Marvin Harrison Jr: the top 2 wide receivers in the 2024 draft class. The Malik Nabers v. Marvin Harrison Jr. war gives analysts the perfect topic to give their hot take on, something that James Jones, the former Super Bowl XLV Champion, spoke about with Colin Cowherd.

Jones had one complaint from Harrison Jr: his absence from the Ohio State University Pro Day. “Where is the competitive nature?” Jones asked upfront. On Wednesday, Marvin Harrison Jr. limited himself to the sidelines at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The WR had a perfect opportunity to secure the fascination of the scouting coaches of the top seeds in the league. Per Jones, it was a sign of arrogance, a balloon he was happy to pop. “You know there are a lot of dudes that have your talent if not better talent than, still did at the Pro Day to show these scouts that,” Jones chided.

Did Marvin Harrison Jr. miss the OSU Pro Day and the workouts at the NFL Combine because he got the projected top spot in the WR department in the 2024 NFL Draft? That question only Harrison Jr. can answer. The second-highest overall pick in the WR department, Malik Nabers, however, was not about to let the chance of outshining each WR in CFB go down the drain.

The LSU WR set records on Wednesday in the Charles McClendon Practice Facility since he decided to hit the sidelines in the NFL Combine. A 40-yard dash in 4.38 seconds, which would have tied for the fifth-best in the Combine, a 10’9″ broad jump, which could have been the sixth-best in the Combine. The best among it all was his blazing 42″ in vertical jump, which would have tied third-best at Combine among WRs. Did it push Nabers ahead of Harrison Jr?

Both of the WRs come in with their set of strengths and limitations. Harrison Jr. takes pride in his ability to effectively utilize his size and route-running skills during games. And that’s not all. Harrison Jr. also comes in with his famed bloodline and, of course, the highlight reel grabs.

Nabers, on the other hand, blitzed in with his explosive, lightning-fast burst, paired with his agility and accuracy after the catch. Add his Pro Day scores to this, and you’ll have the perfect resume that any of the franchises with top 10 picks would place a bet on.

While his LSU Pro Day scores did give him the thrust he was looking for, Nabers is still behind Marvin Harrison Jr. in several draft boards. Do you think Nabers will overtake Harrison Jr. in the 2024 Draft? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
