Being the top player in ESPN’s Best Available Players list comes with its pros and cons. Surely, franchises across the league are fighting to secure a WR like him, but the pressure of excelling at the NFL Scouting Combine seems to have gotten the best of Marvin Harrison Jr. Fresh reports from the Lucas Oil Stadium have shocked the fans. Earlier, Marvin Harrison Jr. did not attend his press conference at 8:20 on Friday morning. “Marvin Harrison is not here. He is not going to be speaking here. I don’t have any other information,” was all the information the NFL PR spokesperson had.

However, Chris Carter released the information about Harrison’s absence, and it was related to his health. “Marvin Harrison Jr. is currently with the medical people getting a body scan. Relax,” he tweeted, stating the reason for the standout WR’s absence. However, with the NFL draft and final days of NFL Scouting fast approaching, would the scan produce a major setback for Marvin Harrison Jr.? More updates about his medical scan are still awaited.

The reason for a health checkup currently in the NFL Scouting Combine might be the over-the-top tests by the scouting heads and coaches like the 40-yard dash, made to test player’s speed. Moreover, Harrison Jr’s history of injuries during the regular season has also been a reason for concern. In 2023, Marvin Harrison got injured while playing against Notre Dame in October. During the second quarter, the WR lay on the ground and did not get back up after that; it was later reported that his injury was a Grade 2 right ankle sprain. However, Ohio State could not be happier as the WR returned to the field during the game against the Terrapins. However, in Week 1, Harrison fell awkwardly on his shoulder while playing against Indiana Hoosiers.

Safe to say, it’s not just Harrison who has to hear the wrath of playing in the NFL Combine 2024. As the week progresses at Lucas Oil Stadium, other reports of top players getting injured continue to pour in.

JJ McCarthy also injured

Per the latest reports by Anthony Broome, the touted QB of Michigan, who is on the hot-wanted list of several NFL teams, is also injured. JJ McCarthy reportedly ‘tweaked’ his hamstring slightly during the Combine week, resulting in him missing the 40-yard dash and the long jump. At such a crucial point in the draft, getting an injury was the last thing on McCarthy’s list as it might be a turnoff for the interested franchises. Yet, it seems that McCarthy won’t have to worry much about the franchise part.

Indeed, there is a bright side to McCarthy’s situation. McCarthy seems to have finalized his team, which he will be announcing tomorrow, according to reports by Broome. There are 6 teams he can choose from, all of them being the top names in the league. Despite the buffet of options available with McCarthy, ESPN’s Mei Kiper believes that the Denver Broncos would land him. What do you think?
