This week, the Deion Sanders-led Pac-12 Colorado Buffaloes are all set to travel to Eugene for a matchup against the No. 10 Oregon Ducks. Once again, they find themselves on the road, facing a serious opponent, with the odds heavily stacked against them. The 3-0 win streak under Prime Time’s Colorado that began by defeating TCU in Week 1 sparked one of the most thrilling narratives for college football.

On the recent episode of ‘Speak,’ host and former linebacker Emmanuel Acho, media personality and television host Joy Taylor, Eagles’ former running back LeSean “Shady” McCoy, and NFL Network analyst James Jones sat down to discuss how a Bulls upset over No. 10 Oregon might alter the prevalent dynamics for not only Coach Prime but college football as a whole.

“If Coach Prime can get this thing done…we gotta be talking about the national championship,” stated LeSean McCoy, referring to a possible Coach Prime win over Oregon.

So far, Colorado has been on a winning streak, and if they are able to dethrone a team that has been ranked No. 10, it will definitely attract talk of the national championship. However, the Buffs are going to be facing Oregon without “one of their best players,” who plays both offense and defense.

Travis Hunter, the two-way star for the Colorado Buffaloes, will remain unavailable for three weeks due to an injury he sustained during the Buff’s game against Colorado State. The injury that the 20-year-old cornerback and wide receiver sustained after a hit by Colorado State Rams safety Henry Blackburn will prevent him from participating in the upcoming games against Oregon and USC1.

“If Coach Prim can do this thing,” McCoy says, it will show “how good of a coach he is.” Not only is Oregon a difficult rival but Colorado will have to face them on their home ground and without a prime playmaker. Looking back into the history of rivalry between the two teams, the odds are set heavily against Time and his team.

Coach Prime’s win streak might come to an end

The betting odds strongly favor Oregon, with a three-touchdown advantage suggesting they should storm toward a monumental win. Considering the historical matchups between Colorado and Oregon in football could hint at the possibility of Deion Sanders’ team facing its first defeat of the 2023 season.

The Buffaloes have faced Oregon on nine occasions since 2011 and ten times since 2002. The Ducks have been overwhelmingly dominant in this rivalry, boasting a 9-1 record in the matchups. While the Buffaloes did narrowly defeat the Ducks 41-38 in their 2016 encounter, Oregon has otherwise showcased clear superiority with commanding wins in all nine of their victories.

I don’t remember them winning anything,” Oregon coach Dan Lanning said after Colorado’s decision to exit the Pac-12 and rejoin the Big 12. Three season-changing and history-making wins later, Sanders was able to helm the ‘undergods’ to their prime. The real question, however, is: will Prime Time be an occasion for the Oregon Ducks to ultimately “move over?”
