Jim Harbaugh‘s shift to the NFL seems almost urgent now as the discussion around his future continues to gain more momentum. The HC for the Michigan Wolverines conquered the CFP national championship this season by defeating the Washington Huskies by 34-13. And now that he’s fulfilled his purpose as a college football coach, he seems to have his sights set on the Super Bowl and the NFL.

The Michigan Wolverines have been a force to be reckoned with this season. They finished the season with 15 consecutive wins to their name and dominated the league throughout. While they defeated all the teams with sheer consistency, their rivalry with Ohio had that extra crisp in their journey. In the name of their famous rivalry, which is more commonly known as “The Game”, Michigan has consistently thrashed the Ohio State Buckeyes three years in a row. And while the fans have enjoyed it to the fullest, it seems as if Harbaugh’s success could be a hazard to Ryan Day’s future with Ohio.

On the latest episode of the ‘First Take’ show, Stephen A. Smith appeared as a guest to talk about Jim Harbaugh’s situation, which has had the entire world of college football divided. With Michigan fans hoping for Harbaugh’s extension, the rest of the fans want to see him in the NFL ring soon. In response to this, Smith took a shot at Ohio’s Ryan Day and said that it would be risky for his future with the team if Harbaugh chose to stay.

Smith said, “I’m going to tell somebody that needs [Jim Harbaugh] to leave, Ryan Day at Ohio State… If Jim Harbaugh beats up on him one more time, he might be out of a job. He needs Jim Harbaugh to depart for the NFL because Michigan has smacked Ohio State around over the last three years. It’s just a fact.” Thus, he’s trying to insinuate that Ohio would be defeated yet again next season if Harbaugh extends his contract with Michigan. But that doesn’t seem as likely as Harbaugh is reportedly preparing to sign with the LA Chargers soon.
