DeBoer’s take on replacing Saban

Going by the trend often seen in college football, Pate placed an important question in front of DeBoer. On his show “Late Kick with Josh Pate”, the football analyst driven by his inquisitiveness asked the new HC, “No one wants to be the guy after the legend. So when this opportunity was presented to you, how did you view this opportunity?”

However, what followed was a confident and positive reply from DeBoer as he claimed “I viewed it as Alabama football and a great opportunity, a great job with resources and getting a chance to meet with Greg Burn. Just seeing his vision and how passionate he was about this place and wanting to make sure that the tradition and the pride continue on.” Hence, DeBoer did not let the heavyweight of Saban’s name have an impact on him and viewed the chance as a football program in itself. With this prestigious role, DeBoer is all set to instill a new culture in Tuscaloosa, however, will keep two traditions of Saban alive.

DeBoer chooses to keep Saban’s strategy intact

DeBoer will be taking the help of social media as a key tool to recruit players. Even though he would want to uphold the traditions that have been so far within the Crimson Tide squad, he has been particular with what he wants. In an interview, DeBoer said, “But everyone will have their own fingerprints on it, when it comes to what we do offensively, defensively, and obviously myself as a head coach.”

Like many coaches, the new Alabama HC will adhere to implementing a spread-style offense. However, even amidst all the changes, DeBoer has kept Saban’s ritual intact. Earlier, the new HC confirmed, that he has maintained Saban’s traditional fourth-quarter conditioning plan. This tradition was implemented by the legend into the training regimen, years ago that helped the players to keep their strength late in football games.

Along with this, the new HC looks forward to carrying Saban’s legacy of defensive brilliance and is on a hybridized defense mission. Hence, this proves that Kalen DeBoer seems to have no problem following Nick Saban’s footprints.
