The 124th edition of the Army-Navy football rivalry saw a game that thrilled its audience with its close finish. There was late drama as the result of the game boiled down to a goal-line stand, but that was not the only excitement associated with the game. There was a lot of histrionics on social media, too, due to a totally different reason related to the game.

Yet another edition of the historic matchup between the two divisions of the American Armed Forces took place, with the Black Knights of the Army emerging victorious with a scoreline of 17-11. This meant a joyous and momentous 10th win of the Commander-in-Chief trophy for the Army, but perhaps ironically, the Commander-in-Chief’s absence from the game was conspicuous, and fans were not amused.

Also called America’s Game, the Army-Navy game has been around since 1890 and has been attended by 10 sitting US presidents till now. Even Biden had attended this game as VP back in 2011. As the nation revels in the excitement of the popular rivalry game between the two US Armed Forces, President Joe Biden found himself in hot water following his absence from the Army-Navy clash. Many people criticized him, saying, “Biden couldn’t be bothered to go to Army-Navy game again.”

This isn’t the first time that Joe Biden failed to attend the Army-Navy clash, and fans doubt if the Commander-in-Chief just doesn’t care about the game or the players or the patriotic spirit this rivalry brings about. His absence at the 2021 Army-Navy clash was met with equal criticism and with many people calling his absence “an embarrassment.”

Joe Biden’s military deferment record brought up by fans

The disappointment from the fans is evident as more people took to X to express their disapproval. One fan tweeted, “Joe Biden is in California hanging out with millionaires and asking for money instead of attending the Army-Navy game? Not surprising for someone with five military deferments I guess.”

According to USAToday, President Biden received six military deferments during his youth, which basically meant that he could avoid being drafted into the army for duties in the Vietnam War. He received five deferments on account of being a student and one more on account of suffering from asthma. The above user hinted at this being a reason for Biden not being interested in the armed forces.

As a Commander-in-Chief, many people expected Joe Biden to be there, but that didn’t happen, and this led another fan to comment, “Where is Joe Biden? Isn’t the Commander-in-Chief supposed to at least show up? Disgusting.
