Poor Shedeur Sanders! Another dead blow to his dream of becoming the Tom Brady-Michael Vick “mixture.” On the DNVR Buffs podcast, his claim got dismissed as another big name Joe Burrow entered the chat replacing Brady and Vick. Earlier it was a Colorado Buffaloes alum, Matt McChesney who was not convinced with the Buffs QB comparing himself to being the cross-breed of the two legends.

Not to worry Shedeur fans, since Burrow was compared to Brady as well during his initial years. So, if not directly, the Buffs QB will still have some things in common with the GOAT if not Vick. Interestingly, Shedeur knew Burrow’s name was coming from somewhere else since Shedeur shared his standing on a special list with him.

Schwanitz comes with a healing balm for Shedeur by dropping Burrow’s name

The podcast host Jake Schwanitz, ensuring not break Shedeur’s heart, lands the Buffs QB’s comparison with the Heisman Trophy winner. Hopes reign high for Shedeur to have an equally mesmerizing season as Burrow had while winning the national championship with the LSU Tigers. “It’s Joe Burrow for me, extremely accurate. He’s going to well this is not even trait-wise but he (Shedeur) could have a senior season this year like Joe Burrow did with that LSU team,” came Schwanitz’s stamp of approval.

In addition, Complex Sports questioned Sanders earlier this month about whether he was more in line with Michael Vick or Tom Brady. Sanders acknowledged that he thinks of himself as a hybrid of the two legendary former NFL players as he said, “I’m a mixture. I’m able to stay in the pocket and want to deliver the ball each and every play like Brady but be able to extend plays and if it’s not there, take it like Vick.”

However, host Schwanitz did not let his opinion hang in the air but backed up with his insights. There are a few grounds on which Shedeur and Burrow share similarities including accuracy, toughness, underrated mobility, and clutch factor. Besides he confidently said, “He’s got that swagger, that confidence with him and you know Shedeur talks a lot about Tom Brady and I feel like we were comping Joe Burrow to Tom Brady a lot when he was coming out too.”

Hence, by becoming like Burrow, Shedeur will be ticking off the Tom Brady box too. Much before Schwanitz, it was 247 Sports who dared to put the Buffs QB and Burrow on the same list.

Shedeur got lucky in the past to share the same list with Burrow

On June 4, 247 Sports came up with a post on their Instagram page asking for the opinion of the fans. The caption of the post read, “Which recent college football transfers had the greatest impact at their new school?” Within the list, it was surprising to see Shedeur finding the 10th place among the most impactful transfers to the portal era. In the same list, Burrow got the top spot while the newly drafted Chicago Bears’ Caleb Williams secured the No.3 spot.

It came as a surprise since the Buffs QB put an end to the last season emerging as the most sacked player. However, 247 Sports might have considered Shedeur’s potential. Even though underperformance plagued his potential, he did hit the rebound button by locking down an above-average record.

Despite missing the final season game, Shedeur Sanders amassed 2,320 yards and 27 touchdowns. According to Schwanitz, with Travis Hunter’s assistance, he may match up to Joe Burrow’s record of throwing 60 touchdowns. It’s now to be seen whether the Buffs QB emerges as the next Randall Cunningham (McChesney’s analysis) or will Schwanitz score a point by his Joe Burrow comp coming true?
