Even though the 2025 NFL Draft is almost a year away, the NFL community could not keep calm with the probabilities. Out of the lot, the intrigue about Shedeur Sanders’ pick and his next destination reigns supreme.

To fuel the intrigue, the “Draft King” came up with a stamp of approval on Shedeur being the No. 1 pick. His destination has been confirmed to be the Atlanta Falcons. If Deion Sanders’ son ends up with the Dirty Birds, the next big question he and the program will face is how he will take up Kirk Cousins’ role.

The day since Deion Sanders brought his son to play quarterback, Shedeur has been in the limelight. He garnered some Heisman hype early in the year when the Buffaloes were at their best, but it fizzled out over time. The hype is back again now that the 2025 mock drafts are doing rounds on the internet. The latest tweet by “Football Forever” clearly hints, “#Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the 2025 NFL Draft according to @draftkings.”

Now that Shedeur is projected to land as the No. 1 pick, the conversation leads to where he will land. Since Coach Prime is clear about his son not going to a cold-weather city, the chances of the Atlanta Falcons reign supreme. This further raises the question of whether Shedeur will fill the void that Cousins would leave with his departure.

Chances of Shedeur to take Cousin’s throne

Going by the buzz, Cousins will not likely be in the Falcons train for the next season. Even though it was only this year that the quarterback bid farewell to the Minnesota Vikings to switch homes with Atlanta. But speculations are doing rounds that Cousins is now under the belief that he can retire a Falcon, hinting that he would bid farewell to the sport anytime soon.

Hence, analysts have already devised the Kirk Cousins’ succession plan for the Falcons. One of them is the former NFL quarterback Cam Newton, who was selected as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. While Newton paid a visit as a guest on Shannon Sharpe’s YouTube podcast, “Club Shay Shay,” he confidently claimed, “If Prime can get Shedeur in Atlanta, all businesses including Magic City will be appreciative of that damn pick right there.”

To further point out the chances of Shedeur and Falcon’s collab, Deion Sanders disclosed that he also wants his son to wind up in Atlanta. Even though the program could potentially release Cousins after the 2025 season with $25 million in dead money, it would not be a bad idea to draft the Buffaloes quarterback as Cousin’s successor.
