Bad times seem far from getting over for the Colorado Buffaloes’ safety. Deion Sanders’ son, Shilo is reportedly sidelined owing to his shoulder injury. Injury and Shilo have walked hand in hand since he was a part of the Buffs program. Even though Shilo brought in much-needed experience to Boulder, the narrative has changed and the safety will be away from the gridiron for 6 months.

He went through a grueling journey that tested Shilo’s patience and resilience towards the game. However, the journey bore unsatisfactory results. Before the shoulder injury, his pinky finger had given Shilo a tough time. Hence, going by his injury records his 2025 draft stocks will now take a dip.

The BuffsBeat on May 1 disclosed the heartbreaking news of Shilo being expected to be away from the gridiron. This off-season, the Buffs’ safety is on a different trajectory. After having peak success in Boulder with 54 tackles, three PDUs, and a pick-six in the Rocky Mountain Showdown vs. Colorado State, it is time for Shilo to expose himself to a time of idleness.

According to the sources, Shilo will now go through a period of six months of inactivity before making it to the gridiron again. The cause is that he might have injured his shoulder and that the injury has been so serious that it demands operative care. Shoulders being the most crucial tool for safeties to execute charge during tackles, it will not be until Shilo is prescribed to be fit that he will be making a comeback. The 23-year-old safety had back-to-back ACL injuries, that left his pinky finger in an adverse state.

Shilo’s injury records may come in the way of his NFL debut

Shilo had been dealing with the injury since his last season at Utah. During that stint, he tore a ligament and tendon in his finger and later on to treat these issues a pin was inserted into his finger. However, this surgery took place in January which was the off-season. But the shoulder injury may cost him dearly and may also impact his stocks in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Now that Shilo stands at the end of his career in Buffaloes, with only one year left in college football, it was his last chance to prove his worth. Even though the hype surrounds only Shedeur as he is expected to be the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, his safety brother is not far behind. Deion Sanders’ too seemed to hold high expectations from both his sons as he confessed on “The Dan Patrick Show” last November,  “They’re going to come out [for the NFL Draft] at the same time—next year”.

Hence, Shilo now stands at a crucial juncture. Being robbed of his power to hit the gridiron for six months will not be favorable for him, since the NFL teams will not have any experience to bank on while recruiting him next year. The Buffs fans now await the official confirmation from the program.
