Mock drafts are reigning the media with the 2024 NFL Draft approaching. The YouTube Channel 247Sports recently developed a mock draft, and things do not look favorable for Caleb Williams. Even though the expectations around the USC quarterback reign high, former NFL scout Smoke Dixon has pointed out three areas that might hinder Williams’ entry into the Chicago Bears. Interestingly, a “slap in the face” situation occurred where the player refused to show any interest in joining the Bears. Dixon tried to draw a parallel between Williams and the famous Eli Manning through his commentary.

Providing a comprehensive analysis, Dixon has shared his view on the challenging situation the Bears face in drafting Williams. He further speculates on the possibility of the quarterback not ending up with the Bears, stating, “There’s no reason for this guy wanting to be in Chicago and he’s showing the Chicago Bears that he doesn’t want to be there for one not even going out there on a visit slap in the face.

Dixon then delves into the three specific areas that could pose challenges for Williams, “When you have an organization three things got to tie in ownership general manager which is front office and head coach. Well the head coach might be out, general manager kind of shaky from his decision-making, ownership is wavering a little.”

Matt Eberflus, the Bears head coach, is in his second year with the franchise, and going by Chicago’s record, he may get fired anytime soon. Ryan Poles is far from finalizing any decision, and the ownership is also confused about the path ahead. This makes fans wonder whether Williams will follow Eli Manning’s strategy.

Is Williams going to walk Manning’s path?

Dixon takes up Williams’ attempt at “Eli Manning his way out,” which was previously brought to Robert Griffin III’s attention. The former NFL legend highlighted how Williams may do everything possible to avoid playing with the Bears. The reference goes back to the infamous antics 2004 between Manning and the San Diego Chargers. Just days before the draft, Tom Condon, Manning’s agent, informed that the player would sit the entire season in case he gets picked first.

However, the Chargers refused to consider this a threat and picked Manning. However, within an hour, the player was traded to the New York Giants. Just as Manning and the Chargers were not considered the right fit, Griffin III and Dixon hold the same belief about Williams’ companionship with the Bears.

However, the final verdict on all these speculations will come on any day between April 25 and April 27.
