As time passes, no interview is enough for the No. 1 pick of the 2024 NFL Draft, Caleb Williams. Now it is time for his fellow teammate from USC Trojans, Brenden Rice, to share kind words about the quarterback. During his latest appearance at the YouTube show, “Up & Adam Show with Kay Adams,” Jerry Rice’s wide-receiver son was in total praise of Williams.

Highlighting the quarterback’s team spirit and owning a strong mindset, Rice attempted to silence all of Williams’ critiques. The camaraderie between Rice and Williams also came in front of the media when the quarterback crashed Rice’s interview during the NFL combine.

Williams, the 2022 Heisman Trophy winner, has become controversial lately. While many questioned his talents, expressing doubts about making it to being the No. 1 quarterback, he has been lucky enough to find his teammate, Rice, by his side. Acknowledging how his talents go unappreciated, Jerry Rice’s son exposed the strong mindset that Williams possesses, “People are going to say a couple things here and there and you know this is a world that people don’t like little things that he does but he’s going on to carry his headstrong.” Williams ran supreme in his commentary as a team player, “So every single day I believe that he will still be who he is, he’s going to stay true to that and he’s gonna stay true to his teammates.”

Later on, Rice revealed a little-known fact. Surprisingly, it was Williams who elevated the wide receiver’s game. In this interview, Rice admitted how Williams “elevated himself and those around him”. The renowned Jerry Rice’s successor was not ready to take the field during his first year. However, Williams stepped in and mentored Rice, helping him to improve and gradually fostering a strong chemistry between the two.

Williams crashes at Rice’s NFL Combine interview

The Williams-Rice bond became so strong that the USC quarterback did not give it a second thought before crashing into Rice’s interview during the NFL Combine. The No. 1 draft prospect joined hands with the media and threw a couple of questions to Rice. Pulling his teammate’s leg, Williams asked, “How does it feel to be Jerry Rice’s son?” To this came a hilarious reply from his best pal, “Man, it feels even better to be the teammate of Caleb Williams.”

On the field, Williams and Rice have forged a formidable partnership, particularly in their final season at USC. The wide receiver hauled in an impressive 45 passes from Williams, amassing 791 yards and 12 touchdowns. This translated to an average of 17.5 yards per catch. The duo, who have evolved from teammates to best friends, are once again united in their quest to secure a spot in the 2024 NFL Draft.

However, despite the seemingly smooth path for Williams, who is projected to be the No.1 pick, Rice still has hurdles to overcome. The wide receiver, while not a top pick, is projected to be a Day 2 or Day 3 draft pick, indicating the need for him to prove his worth through hard work and dedication.
