Since Nick Saban and Jim Harbaugh, the top seeds of previous seasons have left CFB, other potential top seeds are eyeing the top spot at the CFB table pretty intensely. One unapologetic head coach who unabashedly wants that top position as the best team is Texas’ Steve Sarkisian. Sarkisian is not taking any chances this season, wanting everything perfect for the upcoming season, even the QB’s physique.

Quinn Ewers has garnered attention over the years as one good QB. Now Sarkisian wants him to be the best. So, he has all his strength and agility expectations on the table in front of him ahead of the season. “I think Quinn looks good,” Sarkisian said to the Inside Texas. ” We went from where he was a couple of years ago, to slimming himself down last season, to if you look at him he looks a little broader. I’m hopeful this year we can maybe get 3-5 more lbs of strengthening him up that way,” Sarkisian further explained.

The 6 feet 3, 206 pounds QB rose to prominence quite early at the age of 20. So Sarkisian knows the talent the junior-year Ewers packs. All he needs is that final touch of chiseling, something that Sarkisian gives to each of his QBs, as ON3 reported. Ewers not slouching in the physical department shows his dedication to his QB role, since he is well aware of the competition he has from his backup QBs Maalik Murphy and Arch Manning.

This seriousness is everything that Sarkisian needs following an almost National championship-winning 2023 season. Ewers’s strengths this season became a catalyst in the blazing 12-2 season Texas had, right until putting up the best fight in the Sugar Bowl.

Quinn Ewers: Strengths and weaknesses

Starting strong is the junior QBs arm strength. Safe to say, the football gods bless Ewers’s ability to crank the velocity from any arm angle. Chirs Trapasso from CBS Sports believes it to be a ‘higher-end NFL arm.’ Hence, one of the things Sarkisian would capitalize on from the dumbbell-conditioned Ewers would be the flick of his wrist, paired with his velocity and strength to make a longer pass. That, along with his willingness to make big plays, is a gift for Sarkisian.

On the other hand, his accuracy and decision-making are something Sarkisian and Ewers would have to work on. Hence, Ewers’s decision to stay back at Texas would refine his raw scouting profile, making him NFL-ready from all aspects. What type of player do you think Ewers would make in the NFL?
