Washington is all geared up to meet Daniels

After USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams, the focus has now shifted to the reigning Heisman Trophy winner. Dan Quinn’s Washington Commanders have the second overall pick this season. With this, NFL analyst Ian Rapoport seems to be all positive about the Commanders drafting Daniels. He said, “The Washington Commanders are going to use every second possible that goes into making this decision.”

Daniels will have a meet-up with Quinn’s program as the LSU quarterback will visit Washington on Monday and Tuesday next week, as informed by agent Ron Butler to Adam Schefter.

However, in Daniels’ journey to Washington, another quarterback prospect, Drake Maye, seems to be a compelling argument for their second pick. According to Bleacher Report’s Scouting Department, Daniels is the No. 29 overall prospect, while Maye is the No. 3 overall prospect. Hence, going by the situations as far as the LSU quarterback’s next destination is concerned, the focus shifts to the New York Giants, who too is contesting to acquire Daniels.

Giants’ intention to draft Daniels

Brian Daboll’s Giants has the sixth pick in the upcoming NFL Draft and as informed by Butler, the quarterback is making a Top 30 visit to the New York Giants. With only 15 days remaining before the big day, New York is taking no chance to wait any further time and has rescheduled the date for meeting Daniels. The Heisman Trophy winner will be meeting Daboll’s squad on Monday.

According to the mock drafts, Daniels is expected to go in the first three picks. In that case, New York may have to move up so that they can draft the quarterback. With Washington retaining the second-overall pick, they will have a chance over Daniels before the Giants. But if the Commanders move forward with Maye, the LSU quarterback will be an easy target.

Hence, all the intrigue begins at No. 2. Meanwhile, the Commanders have traded their quarterback 1 from last year, Sam Howell to the Seattle Seahawks. It is now to be seen who ultimately succeeds in gaining Jayden Daniels.
