The 2024 NFL draft concluded without any of the Colorado players getting drafted. This unfortunate has struck the Colorado Buffaloes for the third year in a row. The CU players had high expectations from all the publicity and fame Deion Sanders brought in, all of which shattered brutally.

Three players were fortunate enough to land a free agent contract with teams, but no player out of Colorado landed on the roster of any team in 2024. When Yahoo Sports stated the fact on their X handle, Deion Sanders Jr. was irked, to say the least.

The guy handled the responsibility to handle the social media of all the Sanders has taken a fervent stand against many criticizing words from media houses against his father. Continuing the suit, Sanders Jr. also took a sharp barb against Yahoo Sports. When the Program & Coach is bigger than yahoo sports itself… even @YahooSports using boys for clout,” Sanders Jr. tweeted, accusing the media house of using Prime’s name for the ‘clout’.

Sports Illustrated is another organization that has faced the wrath of Deion Sanders Jr. The incident unfolded in the light of criticism surrounding Shilo Sanders for using Instagram to aid his father in the transfer portal. “Deion Sanders’ kids are recruiting transfers via DM while the Colorado coach avoids home visits,” headlined the Sports Illustrated now-deleted Instagram post.

Deion Sanders Jr. scoffed at the post, taking no second thoughts before brutally calling out Sports Illustrated. “Hating while y’all still have our picture pinned at the top of y’all page,” Sanders Jr. captioned his Instagram story, bluntly calling out SI’s hypocrisy. It was only four months ago that Deion Sanders was acclaimed as the SI Sports Person of the Year 2023, a post that still sits as the top pinned post on SI’s Instagram page.

While Sanders Jr.’s anger can be justified for SI, how will he justify his anger towards Yahoo Sports for stating facts? Especially when some of the finest players of CU landed only free-agent contracts this NFL draft.

Xavier Weaver, a player who turned many heads with his records at CU, went home dejected after not being drafted in the 2024 NFL draft. Despite boasting 68 receptions for 908 yards and 4 TDs last season, the CU wide receiver could only land a $255,000 guaranteed money undrafted free-agent contract with Arizona Cardinals according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Former CU LB Derrick McLendon also landed an undrafted free-agent deal with the Carolina Panthers. The 6-foot-4, 250-pound linebacker made statements in Buffs with his 17 tackles and 1.5 sacks last season. Leonard Payne Jr. was another defensive lineman from CU scoring an undrafted free-agent deal with the Miami Dolphins. Looking at the situation, the CU fans are already waiting for the 2025 NFL draft to unfold as Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter are expected to go as the top players. They would be the ones to break this not-so-bragable streak of CU.
