Deion Sanders’ Colorado Buffaloes must be singing only one song “We Want JuJu” but does JuJu as in Julian Lewis want the same? Now that Shedeur Sanders’ college football career has hit the last lap as Coach Prime’s son will be off to the NFL next year, the Buffs have already started their ‘find quarterback’ expedition.

Among the hype of their tickets hitting record sales for this season, Sanders’ program is basking in the anticipation of the USC Trojans’ five-star quarterback. Even though Lewis’ latest tweet drops a hint of him landing in Boulder, however, the reality is not so transparent leaving a threat to Buffs’ future as pointed out by Kevin Borba in his Locked on Buffs podcast.

Lewis’ dilemma gives rise to Buffs’ hopes and challenges

Shedeur being one of the faces of the Buffs program will soon leave behind an empty place for his successor to fill. However, looking for the quarterback sensation’s replacement will be similar to finding a needle in a haystack. But Deion Sanders’ Colorado is all set to take up the challenge and is already getting some response. Like Lewis posted the video on X bringing together all the good moments that Coach Prime’s squad witnessed last season while dropping a cryptic hint of joining hands with the Buffs. While as Borba seems to be positive with his claim, “I think the quarterback of the future for Colorado could be one Mr. Julian Lewis”, he backed it up with few conditions.

Borba further put out his statement with a touch of uncertainty, “Now they have a lot of work to do for Julian Lewis. He’s a five-star quarterback with just about every program in the country coming after him but he’s already narrowed down his official visits. He’s already committed to USC but until pen is put to paper you cannot count out.” While the Buffs are desperate in their attempts to land Lewis, here are some roadblocks that they might face.

Lewis has visited multiple programs to cater to

Lewis is a five-star quarterback out of Carrollton High in Georgia and the top quarterback prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. The Carrollton High School (Georgia) standout is a 5-star prospect and No. 8 overall player in the 2025 class and has been committed to USC since August. Even though Lewis has planned his visit to Sanders’ Colorado between June 21 and June 23, the dates are not enough to give a stamp of approval for commitment.

This is not the first time that Lewis is going to pay a visit, since he has already visited Boulder twice with his recent trip being on this year’s March. On this note, On3 VP Steve Wiltfong raised a disclaimer on Colorado flipping him, “Don’t sleep on the Buffaloes, man. That’s gonna be a third visit to Colorado for Julian Lewis”Like the Buffs, the QB has his visits set with Auburn, Indiana and USC. Lewis came up with an honest confession, “Georgia and Alabama have been recruiting me the hardest and have never stopped.”

Hence, both the parties, Colorado and Lewis are in a dilemma to make this commitment happen. However, on the Buffs’ end, they are more prone to threats since the quarterback has got a huge tribe rooting for him. Will number 3, as in the third visit, prove to be lucky for a Lewis-Colorado collaboration? Let us know in the comments below.
