Brown motivates student-athletes in their ‘fight’ against NCAA

There are huge discrepancies between the remunerations that student-athletes and NFL players receive. They are playing for their college without receiving any salary. On top of that, they are putting their lives at stake by playing the deadly sport, as the NCAA refuses to cover any injury through insurance. Regarding this scenario, the analyst urged the players to “strike” before the first game. As a reason, Brown came up with the analysis, “They would lose billions of dollars in revenue on TV deals. You would be at the negotiating table on Monday morning talking about how everybody gets paid  how there’s revenue sharing with the TV deals, how there’s revenue sharing with everything every goddamn chip that’s sold at the stadium.”

Only student-athletes are barred from receiving revenue. However, they, too, need a pension to sustain themselves. Along with this, there is a need for grants that would take care of their healthcare. Even though most student-athletes are poorly paid, there are few exceptions for players who are millionaires.

Similarly, the Colorado Buffaloes standout cornerback, Travis Hunter, is not far from Shedeur regarding NIL valuation. Being one of the most lucrative college athletes, he holds an NIL value of $2.3 million. Outside of the Buffs roster, another name breaks the long-held notion about student-athletes earning no money. That is none other than the Texas Longhorns’ quarterback Arch Manning, whose NIL valuation is around $3.2 million.

According to Brown’s instructions, to implement a fair pay structure, student-athletes must revolt against the NCAA regulations. This will be a fight for their own rights in their quest to become professional athletes.
