Tua Tagovailoa gears up for an acid test

Tua Tagovailoa has seen his career take off this season. The Dolphins QB has put up some great performances and is one of the names for the MVP this season. But on Sunday, he faces a familiar foe. A rival that he edged out by one pick in the 2020 NFL draft. It’s time for Tua Tagovailoa vs Justin Herbert.

The Dolphins picked Tagovailoa fifth in the first round of the draft two and a half seasons ago. The Chargers picked Herbert sixth that year. But both have had contrasting careers so far. While Tagovailoa struggled for the most part in the first two seasons in the NFL, Herbert took to the league as a fish takes to water. But a lot has changed this season.

The Chargers have had a lot of injuries and are struggling to keep their season alive in Week 14. But the Dolphins look set to make it to the playoffs on the back of Tagovailoa’s MVP-worthy performances. Tagovailoa and the Dolphins prevailed the last time these two met in the league. But with the season on the line, one can expect Herbert and the Chargers to play out of their skin.

It has been a contrasting season

Tua Tagovailoa and Justin Herbert have had a contrasting season till this point. Tagovailoa has shed the ghosts of his first two seasons to emerge as a promising QB for the Dolphins, while Herbert for the most part has seen his season hampered by injuries.

Tagovailoa has played 10 games out of the twelve for the Dolphins and won eight of them. He has thrown 2,859 yards of passing in those games with 21 touchdown passes. The Dolphins QB has also thrown just five interceptions so far this season. The Dolphins lost both the games they played without Tagovailoa.
