Aaron Rodgers’ ‘Go-To-Target’ in High Spirits Despite Packers Showing No Signs on Interest in Resigning Him

As the teams are making changes to their squad this offseason, the Green Bay Packers are also joining the race. Aaron Rodgers, the superstar quarterback of the franchise, is still deciding on his future and has not provided any new information. However, his trusty target may become an unrestricted free agent next month. Even though the team might release him, he seemed in high spirits.

Allen Lazard was an undrafted candidate out of Iowa State in the Packers organization. He only played one game as a rookie in 2018. But as the years went on, he became an important weapon for the team. In 2022, he had 788 yards and six touchdowns. The WR was the only veteran regular player because the Packers brought new talents to the roster. With the support of A-Rod, Lazard saw 100 targets and caught 60 balls last season. But since there’s a scarcity of talented receivers in the market and Green Bay’s inability to give a heftier contract, the 27-year-old may look out for other beneficial options.

The undrafted free agent appeared on SiriusXM NFL Radio on Wednesday. Since his first five seasons with the Packers had been fruitful, he is expecting better opportunities in his next destination.

Lazard hailed the Indian Packers as a first-class organization. He had a great time while playing under Matt LaFleur and Nathaniel Hackett for the past few years. It was especially enjoyable because he had the future Hall of Fame-er QB as his teammate. Hence, he thought that the franchise spoiled him because he would only want to sign with the best team that is in the market.

He said, “I’m almost sort of bougie, I feel like, in what I’m going to be wanting out of an organization. I have such high expectations. But that’s only because I’ve seen that and I’ve experienced that, and I think the record — minus last year, the three years before that — it kind of shows you why they’re able to have that success.”

The MVP-winning shot-caller wants his go-to target to stay with the team. But as mentioned earlier, WR-hungry teams will definitely want to look into him as a potential candidate. He also added that the Packers did not tell him anything that would keep him from hitting the market.
