Lamar Jackson finds himself in an all-too-familiar position once again. After years of being doubted and proving his critics wrong, one would think Lamar has cemented himself as one of the league’s most talented stars. With multiple MVP-caliber seasons and a unanimous MVP in 2019, Jackson is one of the brightest talents that the league has to offer. But alas, his doubters demand more. It is obvious that an athlete feels bad when he/she is not acknowledged for all the efforts that they put into the game. This is exactly how Jackson felt about the contract saga and he made that known to his fans through Instagram.

The electrifying QBs contract situation with the team continues to remain unresolved. Despite being retained for the fifth year of his rookie deal, Lamar and the Ravens have yet to reach an agreement on a long-term contract extension. The situation has left the former unanimous MVP frustrated and confused. 

Lamar Jackson takes his frustrations online

Jackson has never been one to shy away from expressing his displeasure with situations. The star QB took to his Instagram story to post a cryptic message that has fans and media alike speculating its meaning.  “Focus on your life talking to god. Don’t try to compare and contrast your life with someone else’s,” Lamar posted on his Instagram story.

His story got the trade machine spinning once again. To begin with, Lamar’s message was certainly meant to be a shot at the workings of the Ravens. Especially the organizational decision to not gamble on Jackson’s talent and potential. Seeing his contemporaries and rivals get their desired contracts this offseason (wink wink, Daniel Jones) yet seeing his own front office backing out has certainly caused Jackson a lot of discomforts. 

What lies ahead now for Lamar Jackson?

Lamar’s injury history has been a major point of concern for potential suitors. From the Ravens to other organizations, teams have been hesitant to hand out a large sum for Jackson due to his inability to stay healthy. Jackson has missed the playoffs the last two seasons due to injury concerns. This is a significant reason why the Ravens themselves have refused to gamble on the QB so far.

Lamar, however, is definitely growing tired of the consistent doubt surrounding him. He certainly feels that he is being unfairly compared to other QBs in the league who have received massive contracts. By the waning interest in Jackson, it is quite possible that the QB shall be seen in the purple knits of the Ravens once again. But this year, Lamar will have more than just his doubters to silence. For this time, the star will have to prove his own team wrong for refusing to gamble on him.
