The former Super Bowl winner is considered by many as the poorest-performing starting quarterback in the NFL this time around.

Wentz is a major reason for the poor record that the Philadelphia Eagles are lugging around this season. The Eagles have a 3-7 record and are 3rd in the NFC East. At this rate, the Eagles run the risk of missing the Playoffs.

Many have been critical of the poor performances from Wentz this season. NFL analyst Nick Wright spoke on First Things First about the Philadelphia Eagles. He said that the Eagles’ front office must figure out what to do.

He said, “Doug Pederson is totally safe despite being just 3 years removed from actually winning a Super Bowl. Something Carson Wentz is not able to say he did. What that means for Howie Roseman in the front office, we’ll see…”

For Wright, the Eagles’ main concern is the poor play of Wentz. “This is a team that has a multitude of issues. But they’re the biggest issue is this; In 2020, they have the worst starting quarterback in football. Now that is not a statement of opinion.”

Carson Wentz – Worst Starting Quarterback

Wright pointed out how poorly Wentz has been performing. The statistics he brought up were very disconcerting for Eagles fans, and rightly so.

“According to the numbers we can show them, the worst full-time starting quarterback in the NFL is Carson Wentz. And the stats back that up 100%. He is 35th or worse in everything, and there’s only 32 teams.”

Wright also pointed out Wentz’s extremely poor ability to handle the ball. “He is a turnover machine, he runs into sacks, he doesn’t make the big throws anymore.

“There’s been one game all year long that he didn’t turn the ball over. And in that game, he fumbled twice. They just happened to recover them.”

Wright noted that Wentz may have job security based on his contract, but his poor performances are not an encouraging sign for his career.

“So, it does feel, however, while Carson Wentz might be the one with the most job security because of the contract he’s been signed to. But based on performance, you have a guy that’s going to be 28 this month.

“He’s in year 5, and he’s playing the worst football of his career? That is a more than ominous sign for his future.”

It will be interesting to see if Wentz can turn his form around this season. However, it may just be too late for him to help the Philadelphia Eagles by improving his play.
