Cardinals QB Kyler Murray Refuses To Rule Out Move To MLB in Near Future

The Arizona Cardinals have a bright future ahead of them. And that primarily is because that they finally seem to have their quarterback woes sorted. In Kyler Murray, the Cardinals finally seem to have found their franchise quarterback.
Murray has registered 3,000+ passing yards in both his years in the league so far. Almost breaking the 4,000 barrier last season, the sky is the limit for Murray.
The quarterback was a prodigy in college. Not only did he play as QB1 for the Oklahoma Sooners but was also a star for his college side’s baseball team.

In fact, he was so good that he remains the only player in history to be drafted in the first round of both the NFL and the MLB. The Oakland A’s took the plunge for Murray. But ultimately Murray chose to pursue his career in football.
In the recent past, the QB has also taken a key interest in E-sports as well. While his exploits on the virtual field don’t interfere with his NFL career, his ambition of returning to baseball could spell an end for his time in the NFL.
Kyler Murray could return to the diamond
Talking to the Cardinals’ official website, the QB said that he still takes pride in his three-sport exploit.

“I still hold on to the three-sport title,” Murray said. And the QB refused to rule out a possible switch in the future. “If the time came where I got to do what I wanted to do, which, I don’t know, but I’m leaving it open. I think I can still play, for sure, but we’ll add the gaming on to that. Don’t shortchange me, please.”

The QB’s comments show that a switch to baseball is still a possibility. While not an option he’s actively looking at right now, it’s not something he’s ready to close the door on just yet.

“Personally, I played the game my whole life. If I ever had the opportunity, for sure, I would definitely go for it. What are we talking about? I’m sure anyone asking me about it would (take that opportunity) too. I’m not trying to start anything. I’m just talking.”
It’s not inconceivable that the opportunity would again arise for Murray, who’s still just 23 years old, though his current contract prohibits him from playing baseball. A baseball provision might be worth monitoring when the third-year QB signs his next deal, which could come as soon as 2022.
