Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers were in scintillating form for the most part of their 2020 NFL campaign. Coach Matt LaFleur led them to the NFC North title with a 13-3 record. They put in a strong performance to beat the Los Angeles Rams in the Divisional Round Playoffs. However, they suffered yet another defeat in the NFC Championship Game.
The ‘Green and Gold’ went down to the eventual Super Bowl winners, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tom Brady and Co. sealed a narrow 26-31 win over the Packers at Lambeau Field before defeating Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. Despite a heartbreaking end to the season, Aaron Rodgers was adjudged as the 2020 NFL MVP throwing for 4,300+ yards with 50+ passing touchdowns last season (playoffs included).

Rodgers signed a 4-year extension with the Packers worth $134 million featuring a $57.5 million signing bonus back in 2018. He enters the final year of that deal in 2021 and his long-term future in Wisconsin remains in doubt.

What does the future hold for Aaron Rodgers and the Packers
Former Atlanta Falcons wide receiver-turned-analyst Brandon Marshall was the latest to chime in on the Aaron Rodgers dilemma facing Green Bay Packers and coach Matt LaFleur. The Wisconsin-based franchise did not restructure Rodgers’ contract ahead of the 2021 season.
The three-time NFL MVP received a $6,800,000 roster bonus as part of his deal earlier this month. Marshall remains unconvinced that the Packers are doing enough to hold on to arguably the greatest quarterback in their franchise history.

“If you’re Aaron Rodgers, you could have got this deal done. A month ago, if you really wanted it. You had all the leverage then. You had the organization scrambling…I don’t understand. I know his contract runs through 2023. There is an out in 2022, I believe. But you know they shouldn’t be having this conversation at this point of the year,” Marshall said on the show.
The veteran quarterback almost broke the hearts of the Green Bay faithful during the post-game press meet after the NFC Championship loss.
