It even led to some shockers for fans, as the road for a few top draft prospects did not exactly turn out the way it was predicted by experts and insiders. One of those top prospects that did not make it in the first round was QB Will Levis, who was picked up by the Tennessee Titans in the second round of the draft.

With the likes of Bryce Young and Anthony Richardson being drafted as top 5 picks, will Levis take the fields for the Titans in the new season? A former NFL QB shared his thoughts about how Anthony Richardson may take on the field earlier than Will Levis and why.

During a recent episode of NFL on NBC, the retired QB shared his perspective on why Richardson is expected to play in the NFL early, while Levis might be benched for a while. According to Simms, both QBs have different areas that need improvement. While Will Levis already has experience in a pro-style offense, Richardson has not played enough in his college career.

He said, “Levis is more like hey we’d like him to refine a lot of things. Yes he understands these concepts but we want him to work on you know mechanics.” Levis is a prototypical QB for the league. With a strong arm and athleticism, he fits the QB bill right by standing at 6ft4in and 230lb. But the major areas of concern with his plays are his accuracy with the ball and decision-making skills. So the Titans will look forward to improving on those aspects of the game in the coming days.

Colts may have to play Richardson more than the Titans have to with Levis

According to Simms the number one detriment for Richardson is that “He’s not played enough.” For the Colts, Richardson might just be the solution to their QB problems. He possesses impressive raw talent. Talent that just needs to be developed over time. So providing him with more playing time on the field might just be the correct approach the Colts can take with their QB draftee. His touch and game reading still needs some work.

But these are areas coaches can work on. As an individual QB talent, he possesses all the right aspects required by the team to turn him into a formidable weapon in the league. While both teams prepare for the upcoming season ahead, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top as a rookie in the coming days of the league.
