Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Makes a Bold Claim About Tony Romo’s Odds of Becoming a Hall of Famer

The Dallas Cowboys are one of the biggest franchises in the NFL. Known as America’s Team, the Dallas-based franchise has won three Super Bowls under the ownership of Jerry Jones.
Jones’ legacy saw him ended up being honored as a Pro Football Hall of Famer in 2017. Not only the owner, Jerry Jones is also the side’s GM. Taking a much more hands on approach than other NFL owners, Jones has bonded with Cowboys players of both present and past closely.
The Dallas Cowboys too have produced plenty of Hall of Famers over the years. Michael Irvin, Troy Aikman, Larry Allen, Jimmy Johnson are just some of the many Cowboys who made it to Canton, Ohio.

And in 2021, another Cowboy will be eligible to grab a seat in the exclusive club.

During a segment of 105.3 The Fan, Jerry Jones was asked whether or not he feels former Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo should be a first ballot Hall of Famer. And the answer was an emphatic yes from Jones.

“Well, I think there’s no question in my mind that Tony is skilled, at a skilled level, and had accomplishments statistically that were there,” Jones said.

Romo is eligible to be selected for the Pro Football Hall of Fame from 2022. Retiring in 2017, it will be five seasons since Romo will have last played an NFL snap in 2022.

“The fact that we did not have a Super Bowl during that time is always going to be in the conversation as to where Tony Romo will rank — not rank, but where he’s acknowledged. You’re talking to a guy that he would be a first-round ballot with me, and I don’t apologize for that.”

Jones even went on to take some of the blame for Romo’s inability to win a Super Bowl ring on himself.
“You’ve heard me say it’s right there maybe my most disappointing thing about the Cowboys for me is not winning a Super Bowl or be in one with Tony Romo,” Jones said.
