It’s been a season to forget for Houston Texans and their massive fanbase so far. The Deshaun Watson-led outfit remains winless after four games in 2020. Not to mention that they are now without a Head Coach after Bill O’Brien was relieved of his services last week.

Watson has been at the center of debates in the build-up to Week Five of the 2020 NFL season. Critics have argued that the promising young quarterback could push for a move away from the Texans sooner rather than later. However, a certain Houston Texans star argues otherwise.

Houston Texans star JJ Watt looking forward to life after Bill O’Brien

JJ Watt has been all over the news for the past week; as per reports, Watt was one of the reasons behind the sacking of former coach Bill O’Brien. Ahead of their Week Five fixture, the Texans star spoke about the significance of the Deshaun Watson.

He said, “When you have the talent that we have, specifically at the quarterback position in this league, you can’t be 0-4… Deshaun Watson’s an incredible quarterback. He’s the face of this franchise. He’s the future of this team and this city.

“We have to do whatever we possibly can to make sure that he’s in the best position to have success and to lead this place to success, not only this year, not only next year, but for the next10 years.

“Whatever it takes to give him all the tools he needs to be successful in order to … flourish and build into the best possible version of himself he can be, that’s what we need to do,” Watt said via ESPN sources.

25-year-old Deshaun Watson has been with the Houston Texans since 2017. He was handed a four-year deal worth $177.5 million earlier this year. Despite a tough start to the season, the former Clemson Tigers man is looking to improve in the coming months.

He said, “I’ve got to continue to grow individually and bring a lot of people along with me. The organization has a bright future. We want to go in the direction that’s going to take a lot of work, but very, very successful. We have the opportunity.

The Texans take on the Gardner Minshew-led Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. This will be their first game without O’Brien as Head Coach since 2014. Interim Head Coach Romeo Crennel will take charge over the weekend as the Houston-based franchise attempt to win their first game of the season.
