Former Browns and Raiders HC Accepts Lucrative College Coaching Role

Hue Jackson, who formerly coached prominent NFL teams (like the Las Vegas Raiders and the Cleveland Browns), is heading towards college after accepting a lucrative job offer from an NCAA team. Jackson is on his way to Grambling State University in Louisiana to take over as the head coach.
The Tigers haven’t formally confirmed the change, but the athletic department of the Grambling State University (GSU) called for a news conference to reveal the new signing of head coach Friday morning.

Grambling State University will be Jackson’s second HBCU destination. The 56-year-old coach has worked as the offensive coordinator at Tennessee State under Eddie George this past autumn.
Hue Jackson goes to GSU after an unsuccessful career in the NFL
Jackson is mostly remembered for his two stints as an NFL head coach, both of which were largely unsuccessful. He spent one season with the Raiders in 2011 and portions of three seasons with the Browns (2016-2018). Jackson went 11-44-1 as a head coach in the NFL, including an 0-16 in 2017 with the Browns.
Longtime NFL coach Hue Jackson agreed to terms late Thursday night on a four-year contract to become the new head coach at Grambling State, per source.

After being sacked from Cleveland, Jackson seized every chance to inform the media that the team’s poor record was not his fault but someone else’s. He even developed and marketed a book that purports to expose the misery of the Browns. Although, the book remains unpublished.

“They [Browns] were going to be football plus analytics, but they intentionally made it football versus analytics,” he said in an interview. “They were going to take two years and they were going to find a way to use us as an experiment to make sure that they got the data that they needed for it to get better — at the expense of whoever — and that’s not right.”

At GSU, Jackson will replace previous head coach Broderick Forbes. GSU released Forbes in November after a 3-7 campaign in his eighth year with the school. Tennessee State recorded a 5-6 run this past season under the guidance of Hue. We still have to see how well he coaches the Grambling State University.
