“Gone but Never Forgotten”: NFL Twitter Remembers Washington Legend Sean Taylor on His 39th Birthday

Former legendary Washington Commanders safety Sean Taylor would have turned 39 years old in 2022. He was Washington’s Ring of Fame member. However, the legendary defensive juggernaut was taken away too soon on 26th November 2007.
Despite their recent changes as a franchise, the Commanders fans hold the date, April 1, in high regard. Taylor was at his home and trying to protect his family. It was then that he was shot by home invaders and passed away the next day.

It came as a huge shock to the NFL fans and rattled the Washington franchise.
Being one of the 80 greatest players of the Washington franchise, having his jersey retired last season was the highest honor for any NFL player. He did join Washington legends Sammy Baugh and Bobby Mitchell as the third player to be the recipient of this honor. The social media channels were filled with good wishes for the departed Washington legend.
NFL Twitter remembers Sean Taylor: A defensive gamechanger
The 5th overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft, Taylor played for four seasons in the NFL. He started in 55 games for the Washington franchise while recording 299 tackles, 12 interceptions, 9 forced fumbles, and 2 sacks. The 2-time Pro Bowler had an uncanny quickness and hard-hitting tackles on the football field fondly remembered by NFL fans.

Nicknamed ‘Meast’ by his teammates as an abbreviation for half-man, half-beast, Taylor lives on among NFL fans. The outpouring of support and wishes was on display as the NFL Twitter community showed up in numbers.

Despite having a short career, his highlight reel consists of some memorable impressive plays and interceptions. Taylor will always remain safe in the memories of both the Washington and NFL fans.
