And understandably, Brady’s opponents are always in awe of him, despite defeating him sometimes. They can’t help but appreciate his greatness. And NFL defensive icon J. J. Watt was no different.

In the Arizona Cardinals and Tampa Bay Buccaneers fixture last week, J. J. was mic’d up, and this led to some bits of golden interaction between the offensive and defensive behemoths. The 3x Defensive Player of the league tried rushing the Buccaneers’ QB, but Brady was too quick for J. J. at times. And instead of getting worked up about it, Watt displayed supreme calm and sportsmanship.

“Oh, Tom! Golly! I was gonna sack you. You are getting that s— out quick,” J. J. told Brady in-game after a failed pass rush attempt, where Tom Brady got the ball out of the pocket right in time. Watt also had a little talk with the ref where he jokingly mentioned how he just wanted 45-year-old TB12 to just hold on to the ball a little longer for him to go for the sack. After Brady snuck for a 1-yarder, Watt and Tom had another light-hearted discussion on how difficult the inside QB sneak is for any defense. “That’s the hardest one to stop, man,” the Cardinals DT said.

Watt announced last week after the Bucs game that he will retire from the NFL after the end of this season. He posted a picture of his wife and son on Instagram with a crushing message for the fans of the sport. On the day that his newborn son attended his first NFL game, J. J. Watt announced that it was his last ever home game. The tackle explained that he had been contemplating this move for some time now. And the online community respected his decision to prioritize his family and hang up the cleats at 33.
